Sujet: VDJ vs Traktor - Page: 1

Cette partie de ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes

I know this question gets asked alot, i am a VDJ pro user and wonder why there is always so much hype with traktor? You go on to youtube do a search for traktor and you find excellent videos of djs doing magic with controllers and with time coded setups. Do a search of VDJ and you just find bedroom djs doing tutorials. Why is that?

Why are some big name djs going the traktor route and not virtual dj?

What are you views and opions about this?

It's quite simple really. Native Instruments is a much more bigger company than Atomix Productions and they have much more resources to put into marketing.

I love vdj, I love that it is a users program and not off the shelf that requires buying the upgrade every year, but lets face it traktor is a better product for straight djing, It has higher quality sound (talking about a massive club system, not a bedroom one), plugins etc...

VDJ is in a different market all together, focusing on innovation of new ideas, video and mobile dj all in one setups and essentially bedroom dj's whereas native instruments are catering for the "everything I own is made by pioneer" dj's and high profile dj's, btw most of the equipment I own is made by pioneer! accept for my native instruments audio 8 and my TT's LMAO

I own vdj, traktor, serato and torq and I get the same sound quality from all the software. The quality issues arise when the native internal eq comes into play... (vdj developers are you listening?) The native eq in vdj is what gives the software a bad name where quality is concerned... I play on a big sound systems every week and I can tell you that no-one will know the difference between the software by listening and not looking on your screen (unless you use the native internal eq...lol). I worked around this issue by using vst plugins for the eq or using an external mixer...

Vdj is pro grade software in my opinion but it has a bedroom dj stigma attached to it because so many people own it, legally or illegally.

I think that if the timecode issues were fixed you'd see VDJ in a lot more places. Yeah we have the market sewed up on controllers but honestly in my town, I'm the only dj that uses a MIDI controller (MixDeck). And thats only when its just me throwing down. Every venue that I've been to the dj is using turntables............not cdj's, not MIDI controllers.......turntables. Now I live in the midwest, I have been up to Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, Nebraska and not ONCE have I seen a controller. Yes these are hip-hop shows so that could be the reason BUT I doubt it cause the djs are using either Serato or Traktor which leads me to believe its a timecode, plus from my own personal experience with VDJ and timecodes. So in short, fix the timecodes so they are spot on like the others and you'll see VDJ used more.

Just my thoughts and opinions

Where I come from everyone uses midi controllers, no timecode what so ever and that's if their not plugged straight into headphone socket and mixin with mouse or just letting auto pilot do it.

I thing the popularity thing of other company products simply comes down to the dedicated hardware they make such as the S4 etc

It looks like timecodes are more popular in USA and less popular in Europe. Although I'm not a fan of it.

Before I got back into DJing, I looked at all software out there and tested them. I found that VDJ was very user friendly & easier for me to use. After that, it was a done deal for me.

Who cares? No really, who gives a shit? Exactly how does this affect my life one bit? It's like asking why some pro ball players wear Nike. Why do Saudi billionaires like the French Riviera? Why do some DJs like MAC? Why do virgins like to keep their legs closed? My question is, why do we care? Why does this question keep popping up, like a cold sore on a hookers mouth? She covers it well, but I can still see it. Wow....... that doesn't look too good, maybe I should see a doctor.

@AMAHM, you could ask yourself that when people post on this topic before you post....................

Just sayin

@beatbreaker1, if you take a look at his last sentence. My reply was "my views and opinions". I thought my English was pretty good. Wait a minute....Do you have an issue with anything I said? If so, spit it out.

Just saying

Well I use both - Virtual DJ Pro and Traktor Pro 2.

Since getting an S4, I am using it, along with Traktor, almost exclusively, but that doesn't mean I think it's better than VDJ.

Each has benefits, each has drawbacks...horses for courses is the term that springs to mind.

Lmfao!! Do I have an issue?? Really?? I was just stating that the same should apply to yourself cause whenever this comes up your quick to respond. Why do you care? Is it hurting you? No........so why not let the dude ask his question, you don't have to respond, your not hiding a cold sore.......are you??

Just what I observed

Native Instruments not only builds software but they build hardware as well. In fact I own a few different NI audio interfaces as they do make an outstanding product with crystal clear sound quality.

When it comes to software, I have Tracktor, Serato and VDJ. I exclusively use VDJ for it's ease of use and customization. I am most comfortable with VDJ.

The end result is heard so it doesn't really matter what's on your screen, it's how many are on the floor. Isn't it?

Wow... this is some kind of galactic, Jedi shit. Let me get this straight. You tried some different software, found one that you liked, and used it no matter what others thought? This is just too deep for me to comprehend. You have actually chosen the mature, common sense approach. If you are not careful, others may catch on. You do know that all the big time DJs use Tracktor don't you? Or is it Itch? No, it's Scratch. Wait, it's Cough, or Psoriasis. The DJ around the corner is getting laid more than you, because he is using Tracktor.

Need more of your medz AMAHM? ROFLOL you cracking me up!

DJs, if you are worried about what other DJs think of the software you use to the point that it bothers you YOU HAVE OTHER ISSUES to worry about! BE A MAN and be proud in what you use!

Im happy with VDJ, but sometimes i wonder, why are so many other djs using traktor? Don't you other fellow dj's also feel the same sometimes? Is it a "cool" thing? Is traktor "really" better than VDJ, that these other djs stick to it. Why did so many djs swear only by SL1200s since it came out? Many decks came out after that, but many djs still believe in the SL's even today. Same with pioneer dj equipment, many years ago i bought the denon S5000, i felt at that time it was the best value i could get for my money and it had features which didnt appear any other deck ever since, but everywhere i would look other djs were only using pioneer cdjs, searching on the net, event pictures and videos that i would find was djs djing with pioneer cdjs, never really found anything with somebody djing with denon decks. Same story with traktor and VDJ.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (I'm typing very softly, so no one can hear). You better be careful how you express your "views and opinions" around here. Some people want to say what they want to say, but limit the response. Wait..... I don't remember asking for anyone's approval around here. I respond to what I want to respond to, and don't care who likes it.

VDJ vs Traktor, Mac va PC, Android vs iPhone....continue here....
Or:
Computer must be Mac, software must be Serato, turntables must be Technics, CD player must be Pioneer, guitar must be Stratocaster, electro piano must be Rhodes, car must be Mercedes, shampoo must be Head&Shoulders, taxi - Yellow Cab. The unwritten book of so called "industry standards".
People want to know why others use what they use. Or they want to find their opinion on the forum because they don't have their own opinion. That's normal too.
