Sujet: Audio Interface

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I'm really not happy with the sound that I am getting from my audio interface these days. Let's just say it something cheap that I picked up so that I didn't have to use the 1/8 jack from my laptop. Once I installed the driver for it, it changed the way I sound...for the worse. There is way to much bass and when I try to get more volume, it just red lines my mixer and the signal gets distorted. When I play a CD through my regular system, it sounds great ...but then off my computer...umm..not so good. As I am not even close to being an expert..I am looking for some insight as to how I can get better sound from my laptop. Suggestions?

THANKS!!!

What interface are you talking about? Why do I have to ask you this? It would help if you gave us a complete story.

Hi,

I don't know what sound card are you using, but maybe it has been set to loud (maybe +4db or pro use in a -10db or standard HiFI Line IN input). ANyway, if you want a better sound, try an AudioFire 4 sound card, It is afirewire, but if you laptop do not have a 1394a port, maybe your laptop has a pcmcia port or express 34 pin port, so you can add a expansion firewire 400 card port to your laptop to use this great sound card on it.

You will hear no difference between your CD plays and your computer play.

Good Luck!

I apologize if you don't understand what I am asking for here. I thought I was clear..but I guess not.

I am asking what everyone is using to connect their laptop to their system. When I started I used an 1/8" jack whick split into RCA jacks and connected to my system that way. But now I have a audio interface which I connect to my laptop via USB. I am guessing that the sound card in my laptop isn't very good so i would like to find something that gives me better sound from my laptop.

Please take it easy on me here gents...I don't know much about computers.

Thanks

Don't mess about with cheap crap, just get the best 2 channel dj interface, its $175.00 AUS, so probably $150.00 US, you should never be cheap when it comes to sound quality, because in this area you get what you pay for. I have an Audio 8, best money on sound I have spent.

This is the sort of thing I am looking for. Thanks so much!

@ Synthet

That is one beautiful sound card/interface set of offerings. I currently use an M-Audio Conectiv (4 channels). But if it goes down, I should definitely consider the N.I. offerings fo' sho'.

connective was my first soundcard... I would say that the native instruments soundcards are twice as good for both latency and sound quality, I recommend getting one as soon as possible because the difference is like using normal ipod speakers Vs studio monitors.

Agreed, I sometimes use my SL3 but after a while i can't take it and end up hooking up the audio 8. Also the best money I've spent!!

Just an update.

Went to the city and bought a new NI Audio DJ 2 ($110 CDN). Listening to it right now on my headphones and it sounds great. Easy to install, great control and sound. I thank you all so much for your input!
