Sujet: Sub folder search

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Just wondering if there is a way I can force the loading of a track from a sub-folder.

The search function can find the track but won't load it if it's in in one or more sub folders. (e.g. a folder within another folder.)

Although I do have alot of my music in genre's I also have several "album" folders which contain other folder and so on.

Maybe I am over explaining this..

not really sure what you mean here, but it sounds like you may have moved the files outside of vdj, so they are not where the vdj database think they are, check out this topic it is a plugin designed to relocate missing files http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/144700/VirtualDJ_Plugins/Relocate_lost_files.html

Other than that you can use "deck # load 'C://path/to/file.mp3'" to load a specific track, I use this for my scratch sample mp3

Say I put a track in a folder (say it's called " folder A") - then put that folder in another folder (B) - then that folder in another (C) - Then I open VDJ and locate folder A inside VDJ, and do a search for the track, it will find the song no problems, but it will not load it onto a deck.

I'm doing something wrong, surely I don't need to have all my music in one folder only?

It's because the vdj database has the filepath for every track, if the file path changes e.g.

before moving C://documents & settings/kroww/mydocuments/my music/folderA/mytrack.mp3

after moving C://documents & settings/kroww/mydocuments/my music/folderB/folderA/mytrack.mp3

when you are using search you are seaching the database not your hard drive and when trying to load a track, the database will only look for the track in the location from the database, if you move it to another folder then the database will make a new entry under the new position and you will get repeat songs one of which won't work. I think you can use fix database in the config menu but not sure how it works exactly, or you might be able to make a filter folder "ispresent=0" then delete the entries.

Also to avoid this in the future you can create folders and move tracks within VDJ so the database information changes to the new location. If you need to move single files you can drag and drop if your holding ctrl.

Cheers Synth.. appreciate it greatly mate.
Will play with that.

no worries bruz, by the way ispresent=0 doesn't work
