Sujet: Learn how to be a DJ

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Hi all,

I am a new member here, so sorry if this topic is already discussed.
So, i always wanted to learn how to be a DJ but never get the chance to. So i want to ask if the VDJ is the only thing i want to start learning before i go and buy some equipments?? And I am interested in playing minimal tech/psy tracks. Is there any advice? like artist and tracks.

Thank you.

Mmmm,

Minimal Tech and Psy, what psy? Psydub? Psystep? Psytrance? All in all not mainstream and it is a relative very small market for that type of music.

If you want to get to know the artists and tracks, do what I do: Subscribe to http://www.mixcloud.com/ and start listening to the DJ's and look at their tracklists. From that tracklist you'll be finding the artists you'll be wanting to collect and there are direct links to Amazon digital to buy or download.

I recently bookmarked some stuff, so somethings to get you started:

http://www.wonkay.co.uk/ <- label with some free psychedelic tech/dub albums to download.
http://www.mixcloud.com/keit4min/ <- interesting Japanese DJ doing some great Psystep mixes.

Good luck!

Btw.. I suggest starting with somewhat more simple music to learn to be a dj :p

Ok...i think i need to make more research about that type of music. I am a Rock fan(Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin...etc)...not electronic...but the minimal(electronic, psy....etc) type is something new for me and i started to like it. Anyway thank you for your help. But one more thing...is VDJ is all i need to start learning or i have to get equipments. In my country electronic equipments are so expensive and i don't want to buy anything before i learn at least the basics.

Thank you for your help.

Just get yourself the VirtualDJ free version and start listening to lots and lots of mixes on mixcloud to determine what it is you actually like. You only need equipement if you'd like to get in front of an audience, than again, for the genres you describe the audience is small and the DJ's specialized and dedicated, so the most important thing is to go nuts on practicing and making yourself heard for example through mixcloud, soundcloud, youtube, facebook and get many connections.

Goot luck, hope hearing your first mix soon ;)

start here:

link removed. Spam

realy farhanashraf, WTF, you are just bumping month old threads with one line awsners like forum redirections or 'do you still have the problem' we've seen your name, good for you.

A) that wasnt spam, its a thread labelled: "All you ever wanted to about deejaying" om the djforums site. it is a very helpful thread.

B) i havent been here in a while , catching up.

Please do not spam every forum post with the same link. Either post something helpful/useful or please refrain from posting.

^ it is a helpful post from another dj forum, i am not posting links to sell anything or do anything illegal, just helping out the OP with useful links.

Please double check your links. The link posted did not go to another DJ forum nor had anything to do with DJing. Hence it's removal.

^ dj forums must be down then, they have been having server problems. wish i coul fix that, i have that link bookmarked SINCE IT IS SO USEFUL. so i just copied from my bookmarked links and pasted it here.

thanks for taking a useless link off.
