I just called Guitar Center and Sam Ash and they told me they didn't have any Numark NS6 or MC6000 that I could play around with, and they had to open a new one but they can't because of the serial.

But anyways I think im going for the Denon MC6000, thanks a lot to everyone that helped me and gave me their opinion!

My Local GC has one and I'm going there tomorrow to play around with it. From everything I am seeing and hearing the NS6 is the one to go with. I want to see for myself. I am trying to decide the same thing you are and if I do not get the NS6 I will definately be getting the MC6000. I will let you know my opinion after I go there tomorrow.

That would be awesome, thank you very much! I will be waiting for your reply

I messed around with the NS6 and when i say that its really good, It's because i have put it to my little test. I tested the faders, The curves, The jog wheel, The play cue buttons, The pitch control, etc. I will buy one soon.

Was wondering are the jog wheels smaller then the platters on the NS7 cause thats somthing I love bout the NS7 and I also noticed that it was latency free. That is a greater response time then you can get with the NS7 thou. And that is very nice. I wonder if it will hog a bunch of CPU thats my big concern. Cause the drivers for the NS7 have still not been updated to take care of that situation. And know that its in the PAST now

The jogs on the NS6 are slightly smaller but still feels ggod to put your hand on. When they say zero, it means the accuracy is very good. Whether if it motorized or non motorized, Scratching uses some cpu resources. Your computer has to have more than what's required for the Minimum specs.

I own a MC6000 and a good friend of mine is using the NS6.

The biggest difference for us are the platters.
A plus for the NS6

Both controllers can handle 4Decks, but only with the MC6000 you can use a Mic at the same time. (Controller connected ;-)
The MC6000 hold a seperate Mic section and on NS6 side, you have to use the Channel 3 or 4 for Mic.

So if you need a Mic on NS6 side, you only can use 3Decks + Mic.
The alternative choice is to switch during a set on the back the input.

Not a reall clever solution in my eyes on NS6 side :-(

So if you are a Mobile or Club DJ and you want to use 4Decks "AND" a Mic at the same time, the MC6000 is your controller.

But the MC6000 is also not perfect.
The Ducking feature is in my eyes a pain!
It reacts a little bit too slow, especially after you stop speaking and the sound depression is too high.

I think im going for the Denon MC6000 because i'm a House DJ so I don't really scratch. And the only thing that really pops out of the NS6 is the size of its jog wheel that are good for scratching, which is something I don't do.

I went to GC today to play around with the NS6. I did not get to use it with computer as they couldn't load the drivers in the store for it. GC locks down their computers so they cannot be used for anything other than what CORP wants them to be used for. Bunch of crap really!

I am very impressed with the construction of the NS6!!! This thing feels rock solid. The Platters are awesome! They are heavy duty and really do not feel like any others that I have seen. I love the feel of them. They had the new Pioneer's next to it and the jog wheels are plastic feeling and very cheap.

I think I am going to buy the NS6 and give it a go. The guy told me that since I planned on using it with VDJ, as long as I did not open and install the ITCH Software, if I didn't like it to bring it back. Now thats a pretty good deal! Once ITCH is opened though, you own the controller. Overall I am very impressed with the NS6 and have not even got to use it with a PC yet.

@ Elepzia. Before drop some Dough, I would got the dj store and mess around with each deck. Bigger Jog wheels doesn't mean your a scratch dj. People buy equipment based on how they like the feel of it and the responce.

Yeah, im going to call my local music stores again and see if they have it available or no, so I can put my hands on it and try it out.

Do you think they would let me take my laptop so I can try it with Virtual DJ?

Yesterday I found this on the virtual dj forum:

http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/148625/Hardware_Technical_Support/_NEWS__Numark_NS6.html

And I started reading all the comments and a lot of people were complaining about technical issues with the numark NS6 and Virtual DJ.

The mixer it self is top quality for the MC6000. The jogs were mediocre with scratching sensitivity and song control. It was a little better that the VMS4. I'm not saying that is what you need it for but to me at that point it was just like using an RMX with larger jogs for twice the price. I think the NS6 is mapped "enough" to do just about anything. I would think the NS6 would be like using a pair of CDJ's- they way it should be. I just dont have one yet. With any new devices and software there will always be issues but it will get better with tuning, updates.

What I have now : NS7

What I have owned and used:
Herc MKII and RMX
Vestax VCI300
Denon MC6000
ADJ VMS4
Behringer BCD2000/3000
Korg Zero4mixer and CDJ-800s

thanks,
David

The crucial question which I don't think has been raised is this: Where do you plan on using the controller? What are your aspirations?

The NS6 is a better option for bedroom DJ'ing/home parties/mobile discos (where you're expected to carry a complete set-up out of a case).

The MC6000 would be the more logical choice if you want to get out of the bedroom, and start some bar/club gigs because of its size, easier to carry and you know that there will always be space for a unit of this size. The NS6 is just that bit too large to cart to a club, not many clubs will install it believe me. You may be able to drag it to some bars though, but conditions vary from venue to venue, depending on if the bar has a load of gear already installed for example.

In a nutshell: Home DJ'ing/mobile discos - you can buy whatever takes your fancy, the most important thing here is having something you feel comfortable using. It's all about choice and taste, as functionality can always be worked out (for example you may need an external soundcard, mixer with some controllers).

For bar/club DJ's: You generally only have two options: Timecode (usually Pioneer CDJ's) and/or a small enough midi controller which you can cart around with you, which there will be room for wherever you go. Look to the Denon or the Vestax VCI range if this is what you're after.

It's also important to become familiar with the higher end CDJ's (large jogwheel models) as they're industry standard. You could be great on an NS6 but this would be irrelevant in a large club or open air event, you'd be faced with the latest CDJ's without a shadow of a doubt. It may be worth buying a second hand pair off ebay, use them everyday for a few months until you've nailed them and if you want the cash back at the end, list them back up, consider the postage cost as a cheap hire rate as you'll get your money back!

WHile I agree with some of bagpuss' post I disagree with a lot as well. THe NS6 is NOT too large to carry to bar/club. It's only 5 inches wider and approx 6 inches deeper than the MC6000. I think the NS6 is the PERFECT in between controller between the CDJ's and RMX sized controller. I also believe its versatile enough to do just about anything you want to do.

I do agree that its good to maybe get a used pair of CDJ's and start using them. BUT IMO two CDJ's and Mixer takes up more space than the NS6. Its not a good idea to carry them without a case and a flight case or similar for this set up is fairly large in itself.

Bottom line is what your needs are. If you Need an NS6 get it because it has all the stuff. If you need an MC6000 get it, its pretty close in functionality with smaller footprint and smaller platters/wheels. If you see you need to move on to CDJ's save up and get them. The thing about DJ equipment especially is get what you feel comfortable with and does the job well!

Is it worth upgrading to a NS6 or is the MC6000 a better choice? To me it seems like the ns6 effects and functions are limited to the VDJ software which is exactly what my Mixtrack PRO is (same deal except better quality and better looking), the MC6000 must have some on-board features since it works without a computer right? Or do I have to get mixer/cdplayer to get extra featuers? VirtualDJ is currently a must since I only DJ on the internet.

Finally I chose the Denon MC6000 and let me tell you it is the BEST BUY I ever made! I'm very happy with my new controller and its amazing! I tried both in my local Guitar Center and the MC6000 felt way better and it was more compatible with Virtual DJ than the NS6

Yes, it's fantastic.

I use mine in the place I work along with touchscreen and the versatility of VDJ and the MC-6000 is beyond belief!

Hi, im willing to upgrade from the Hercules RMX to some more professional equipment. I was sure that I was going to buy the Denon MC6000 but now that the Numark NS6 came out, i'm a little bit confused on what should I choose.

So, what would you buy? and why would you buy that one?

I own the MC6000 and love it. Never tried the NS6, but the size of it is a deterrence for me to buy it. The MC6000 fits in a back pack along with my laptop and cans. Easy to bring to clubs when I have to guest DJ and not want to use their equipment. For me, it is a back up gear rather than a primary so portability is key for me.

MC6000 gets my vote.

you can not use external vinyl control on the Denon MC6000.. making it a no go for me..

Does any one know if the Numark NS6 can be used with external vinyl control???

It does not say in the manuals.

Its a Damn shame.. I like the denon because its more professional build and design.. WHY does EVERY model of mixer/controller have some feature missing that seems sooo damed obvious????

http://www.djbooth.net/index/dj-equipment/review/numark-ns6-controller

Someone answered.. answer is here .. big fat NO.

.. which means you would have to use a separate sound card (like a numark audio 6) as well as the mc6000/ns7.

What a waste of time.

Idiots!

Ill stick to my analogue mixer and my midi controller, with my audio 8. Its the same amount of hassle.

The whole point was to reduce the amount of gear and cables i need to set up. FAIL lol
