All my music videos are vob files, one file per track, split using DVD Decrypter in chapter splitting mode. I have noticed for some time that when you play certain videos and change playback position while playing the video, the video will freeze, but the audio will keep on playing. I started making a list of all the problem videos as I come across them and I now started to re-rip the problem DVDs. I noticed that all the problem videos contains two chapters per title (track) on the original DVD. The first chapter is almost the entire video and the second chapter is usually a 10Kb part (a frame or two only). If you rip each track (vob) to include the second chapter (like I used to do in the past), VDJ will freeze the video if you move to different playback positions in the video during playback. If you rip the track to contain only 1 (the first) chapter it plays fine in VDJ.
Can VDJ be fixed to play these vobs (containing more than 1 chapter) without freezing the video if you change playback position while it is playing.
Does anyone know of a way of removing the chapters from the vobs, sparing me the effort of re-ripping all of them - it looks like approimately 2000 of my vobs contain two chapters each. There is also no way to rip the first chapters for all the tracks on a DVD in one step, you have to do it track-by-track, delete all the 10K chapters and then rename all the files with artist and track names.
Any help would be much appreciated.

You will have to combine those two chapters in an editing software first, make sure it's seamless on play in the editing program before you load it in VDJ..
Good Luck,

As I said, the second chapter is a frame or two (10KB) at the end of the track and can be omitted. That is what I am doing now when I re-rip the DVDs. I use only the first chapter of each title. That plays fine in VDJ.
I just need a solution to save me the effort of re-ripping 2000 tracks. If they can fix VDJ to not freeze the video if the vob files contains more than one chapter, it would be great.
I know of a lot of people using vobs and if VDJ can be fixed, everybody else would benefit from it.
BTW The vobs play fine in all other apps I've tested - it's only VDJ that fails.

Don Moir,
Sorry, but I cannot upload these files, they are just too big! The smallest file with the problem I have is 185MB. I tried to cut the first part to make a smaller file, but after saving the remainder of the file, the additional chapter info is also gone and it plays fine.
In the mean time I checked two VOBs per DVD in my collection, because the VOBs are saved per original DVD title and usually all the VOBs of specific DVDs will have the additional chapter each and will freeze. I identified only about 15 DVDs which gave problems, in total about 550 tracks. I have re-ripped all of them and are busy testing and listening through each of them. Only about 130 to go....
Would still be great if VDJ can be "fixed" to play these VOBs containing more than 1 chapter, without freezing.

appollo69, I just bought VDJ to mix VOBs from my collection; I used to "mix" them using two dvd players and an audiofader, but I decided to go all digital and manage everything on a PC.
So I went and bought a PC just for this purpose, but as of now I haven't been able to use VDJ without the software freezing after 3-5 tracks.
The support staff has ran out of options to help me, so basically I'm trying to grab as much info as I can on the subject in order to fix it myself.
Would you mind sharing your specs for comparison purposes?
I'm working with these specs:
- BCD3000 controller
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
- Motherboard: ECS H67H2-1
- Processor: Intel Core i5-2300
- Videocard: MSI R5450 (1GB DDDR3 video memory)
- RAM: 4GB DDR3 Kingston

appollo, when you get the chance it would be good if you could test your vob files in Essential Media and let me know how it goes for you.
The codecs are important so don't forget that.
