So i just picked up my NS6, i was reading the forums and it seems some people are still having problems with getting it to work with VDJ. Is it worth me trying to run VDJ or just go with ITCH? I am very pro VDJ and would love for the NS6 to work with it. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Pete

okay well so much for any input....
Well i got it working, and it seems to be working pretty well. If any ns6 users want to get the unit working with VDJ just follow the instructions in the support forums they are spot on. There are a few glitches but nothing to keep me from using it.

You asked after 9pm on a Friday, and most DJs are at work. I was at work when I first read it, last night. I am just starting my shift tonight. Give our user a chance to respond, as we are not all sitting at home. Everyone gets help here, even some that I don't like. There are a ton of NS6 post on the forum, have you looked at all of them? If you stick around, you will also be helped.

Dedicated NS6 thread in the HARDWARE section, http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/148625/Hardware_Technical_Support/_NEWS__Numark_NS6.html?page=1
It would probably be better to ask your questions there.
Good Luck

It works OK. What I mean by that is if you know VDJ you can do the basics and some advanced stuff. Not all the functions are there, at least in my playing for example pressing skip and moving the platter and keeping beat. The biggest issue which is known is to set your crossfaders center before starting VDJ and then toogling them to the Left and Right. IMHO, I would use Itch until the new VDJ NS6 mapper comes out. But the beauty of the NS6 is that you can use both packages out of the box and find what is right for you.

The 'skip' feature is an Itch feature that is why the button is labelled that way. If you downloaded the instructions PDF from the mapper download page you would see what is assigned to the button.
The toggle for deck 1 & 3 crossfader assignment is a know issue and will be corrected in a later update of VirtualDJ. But it is not a show stopper. Jet have to toggle the positions at start up.
If those are the only reason for not using VirtualDJ then I am sorry that you are not.
As for the 'basics' not being there and only 'some advanced' stuff ????
I would say that the VirtualDJ mapping provides way more access to the basics than the software distributed with it. And, have an extremely wider depth of 'advanced' features than Itch.

CStoll - My man, first let me apologize because my comments were misconstrued. I am a VDJ supporter. I have been with VDJ since it was branded as Atomix. I have had a radio show on VDJ, so I am not criticizing in any way, shape or form. If that is how my comments came across, my bad.
Secondly, I guess what I was trying to get across was that out of the box AS OF TODAY, itch maps tighter to all of the controls of the NS6 vs VDJ. That does not mean that you guys are not hard at work suring things up. In terms of "advanced" functionality, what I meant was things like using the looping functionality, for example to store and recall loops or trimming a loop using the pitch bend in VDJ.
I have been here a long time and EVERYTIME a new piece of hardware comes out, you guys get the brunt of everyone's criticism. This was not the case. I know that the NS6 map was a first pass and that you guys will continue to work to make the product better.

Get through the BS and this forum brings up the merits and cons of both products: http://serato.com/forum/discussion/352883

The feature(s) you mention are feature differences in the two software products - it has nothing to do with what the controller is capable of doing.
From the Serato perspective of course - each forum has bias towards where the information perspective comes posted from. There are several here that would disagree with points made there. But this thread is not about Pro/Cons of the two software products.
If you want person's opinion that has nothing to do with either software I would read the review from Gizmo at Skratchworx - http://skratchworx.com/reviews/ns6.php
"Virtual DJ gave me solid results too, and also offered the extra dimension of video mixing. Overall, I would say that I was much happier with the VDJ mapping, and when some smart user decides to make an NS6 skin, this is going to be a pretty tight user experience, and will certainly give people unhappy with ITCH an alternative.
