im using virtual dj by the way

You will need to configure your sound card as follows:

Go to CONFIG --> Sound Settings

Inputs: None
Outputs: Headphones (Master: 1&2 Headphones: 3&4)
Soundcard: 4in/4out (Numark or DJiO selected in drop down)

You will then need to connect your sound system to outputs 1 & 2 of the DJ/iO and plug your headphones into the headphone port of the device.

im just using the i/o for my head phones. im using just regular computer speakers, the ones u just plug in to the audio port on the lap top.

In that case:

Go to CONFIG --> Sound Settings

Inputs: None
Outputs: Headphones (Master: First Card - Headphones: Second Card)
Soundcard: 2 cards (Primary Sound Card)
( Numark DJ/iO )

i tried that and every other combination and still nothing. so it wont work unless i have that adaptor? do u know why it wont work?

The adapter would be one way to work around it. You would use the first set of instructions provided by *ACE* and just plug the RCA's into the output of the DJ IO and your 1/8" speaker plug into the adapter. You could probably pick it up locally at Radio Shack they tend to have a good selection of adapters like that.

Fixing it in software like *ACE* suggested in the second reply would be preferable though as long as your built in sound card is decent.

guys please help. i really dont want to spend more money on something else. i thought with the i/o i was going to be set. i have a gig this weekend and i really need for this to work. any other suggestions on what might be causing the problem. also if i buy the adapter will i get stereo sound. or will it be mono just like any other Y-splitter. if it is mono, how can i get stereo sound?

This is the exact set-up you need! What problem are you having? What version of the software are you using?

pro 7

the only thing i have conected to the i/o is my head phones. and i have a regular audio cable running from my mac book pro to my speakers. i get sound out of my speakers but no my headphones. i played around with the configuration and i got sound in my headphones but not on my speakers.

just updated the drivers. didnt fix it
