Sujet: video aspect ratios

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

is there a way to standardise my video files to all run at full screen in vdj?

or a fast way to change them reliably in software.

i would like all videos to play full screen no matter what the monitor is. those black lines pee me off. even more so when i have had very little sleep.

Have you experimented with the video settings inside VDJ? I know you can uncheck "maintain AR" but I'm not sure of the exact effect of this setting, as I never use it.

As I edit for several sites I always edit videos in their correct AR, and when I play out I display my videos in their correct AR, stretching videos stretches people and objects and beyond a certain amount it looks silly imo. It's more likely someone will approach you and say "why is that guy squashed or stretched super tall" than "why the black bars", as the black bars are normal anyway.

yup, experimented with the video settings, still nothing. tried to convert the files using different ratios, norman, 4:3 and 16:9 ...still nothing..its looking like im just gonna have to keep the black bars.

By any chance are the black bars actually part of the video ? A lot of movies are composed as letterbox.

If you could post a sample that would be helpful.

well they all seem to be in 4:3 apart form the odd one or two that is just a letterbox window with black bars all round.

im workin with some promo only dvd rips so im now assuming that is the origional format. i would like them to appear full screen though.

i cant really show you a sample as my upload speed is pants and it takes forever to upload to pootube.

Here's a small crude video sample that I know does not have any black borders as part of the video.

Try this and see how it plays with 'maintain AR' checked and unchecked. If 'maintain AR' is unchecked (the default), it should play stretched without any black borders. (106k)
