CAN SOMEONE PLEASE DELETE THE OLD TOPICS!!!!!
I think I speak for everyone when I say it's hard & very frustrating trying to discuss a problem you have when you don't know whether it's already been posted. I made a topic about one of my problems & it was immediately straight away deleted as the topic had apparently already been made but how the hell!! am I supposed to know that??? I'm not going though 500 pages of topics just to see if my problem has been posted....sort it out guys!!!!
it's bad enough I've had My problem for 3 years..(which most people would have given up on you by now for)... but when I can't even discuss it that's just unacceptable!!

To the extent of my knowledge, our forum is not designed to delete old topics. I'm sorry at your frustration, and hope it ends fairly quickly.

Ok ... first lets get some facts straight ....
Your topic was not deleted. It was locked. Why? Because you started your own thread then posted in a thread with the same post.
Rule #1 here - do not make multiple posts.
Next you claim you can speak for everyone else - but you can't even get your own story right as you some how miraculously found the 'old topic' 16 minutes after making your own topic and then proceeded to make the mistake of posting your 'new' topic in the 'old' topic thread. So much for going through 500 pages of topic - only took you 16 minutes.
And since I was the one that responded to your post - I forgave the other little misplaced fact originally - but can't now.
You could not and can not have a problem for 3 years when the product you claim has the problem has only been known about for 18 months. Here is the first new posting from the manufacture - http://www.numark.com/emails/jan10/newsletter.html
And you got the product in Apr 2010 because you placed a ticket for knowing how to set them up.
It is only July 2011 -- 14 months ... hhhmmmm.
So - No, I don't think you can speak for everyone here. And, before you decide to go on a rant about things that occur on the forum - get your facts straight.

I would like to draw your attention to this thread that was locked yesterday
http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/11664/VirtualDJ_Skins/Is_it_any_easy_way_to_make_a_skin_.html
I think it's right that people post on old threads, old threads are useful and their interesting.
Otherwise, delete all threads when they get to a year old. Lets go crazy!

The guy posts 8 words on a 6 year old thread.
But let's analyze -- the topic title "Is it any easy way to make a skin?"
The OP asks about making a skin to mimic the Pioneer 700.
Couple other posts occur - everyone happy (6yrs ago)
Then comes along someone that posts "hey guys, need help customizing my own skins"
What does that have to do with the Original Topic ???
Which the same poster puts this in another post "all i want to do is put my dj name and my picture on my skins".
A post that was already on the main page of the skin forum, only a couple days old, and more appropriate to the real request.
http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/150108/VirtualDJ_Skins/How_2_Modify_An_Existing_Virtual_DJ_Skin__.html
So before you just start 'picking' apart threads - know the facts. And specially if you are going to go on a rant.

i for one have looked back on posts ot the same age and found information tat has been relevent to my research. deleting posts when they get to a year old i believe would cause more harm than good. it would cause people to have to cover all the same material as was covered in the past, thus clogging up the forums with more junk.
i say keep the old posts unless theyre totally useless. like for instance all old posts that touch on topics people have since made detailed guides for, or covered completely elsewhere. a bit of tidying up wouldnt go a miss but it has to be realised that the mods and production staff hve lives and jobs and cant spend hours sifting through thousands of threads to find which to delete and which to keep.
thinking about tidying the forums, due to the rate which new topics are produced compared to the full amount of time the mods and staff could conjour to clean up, it wouuld probably be counter productive. it wouuld take a lot of hours to sift through the old threads and determine junk from funk. even if the mods and staff could conjour up 4 hours a day for cleaning it would still take a lot of time. time which they could spend working on more pressing issues. it would take a full time cleaner to produce any decent efforts in sifting through the threads and most people work and have other things to do.
even if a guy (like me) wasnt working, there would only be so much you could do each day and not every day is possible at that.
is has to be realised and thought about sensibly.. use common sence and think about what you are complaining about fully before you make any random posts.
my 2 cents,
john.

Ok first I'd just like to apologize Chirs I was in a mood when I posted this lol & ok was out of line & kidda just off on a rant but in my defense before i made the new topic i was looking for a wile & couldn't find anything that's why I made the new topic then found the old one 16mins after & re-posted my comment hoping it would double my chances of someone seeing it.... didn't know that was not aloud...if you look further down the same topic you will see I also posted back in nov 2010 & never got a reply, then with not getting a reply on the tickets & then the first reply I did get was someone telling me I topic had been locked you sort of get why I was annoyed & lost the plot
wasn't sure how long I'd had the gear all I now it's been I wile I was one of the first people to get it it had only been out for 4 months according you what you said & I paid a lot!! of money for them, A lot more then what there at now, so they where slight exaggerations which everybody does at times. it's just annoying when I've had these problems for so long & don't seem to be getting anywhere

if you google skin creation vdj or skin editing vdj, theres tons of threads regarding the creation and editing of skins. i find it hard to believe you have had this problem for so long and not bothered to look for related material..it took me about 30 seconds to find hundreds of threads all containing information on what you want to do.
Posté Wed 13 Jul 11 @ 11:48 am
@Blulite - you need to read a thread thoroughly before you make comments. He is not asking for help will skinning. Read the thread again.
Posté Wed 13 Jul 11 @ 11:58 am
oh, i thought due to the references to skin editing threads the problem was with skin editing...you have me confused now chris. lol.. but hey not to worry.
im sure i also read a comment on how the original poster had posted on an old thread too with 8 words. and that was something to do with adding a name to a skin. do i have my wires crossed here somewhere?

Blu we understand, well I undersrand that you like to help out others which is good, but sometimes bro you should just stay out of it. Let the dude rant and let Chris tend to him and all will be happy in VDJ land.
And please don't take this personal

Did you happen to have a look at the last post prior to the one in question in that thread Charlie? It was dated April 2005. There was no point on anybody posting on the thread in question any further as this was an older version of the software (VirtualDJ 2) and the topic no longer has relevance as skinning, commands and the software as a whole has changed drastically in the last 6 years.
Old threads are useful and interesting, and they are still there as a reference point as they have been locked (not deleted).

Ok ... this whole thread is now a great example of my first post above ( the third one in the thread - but my first of the thread : just so know one gets confused).
The same mantra again - and say it with me ...
Rule #1 - DO NOT DOUBLE POST
Rule #2 - READ THE THREAD BEFORE YOU POST
Rule #3 - IF THE THREAD IS OLD (REALLY OLD) AND YOU ARE GOING TO ASK A QUESTION ABOUT SOMETHING NOT RELATED - DON'T DO IT.
Rule #4 - IF YOUR POST DOESN'T CONTRIBUTE TO A THREADS DISCUSSION - MAKE A NEW THREAD
Rule #5 - GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU POST
Rule #6 - IF YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE A POST - DON'T JUST SAY 'HELP ME'. GIVE A LITTLE BACK GROUND TO YOUR PROBLEM IT MIGHT HELP YOU UNDERSTAND IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY POSTING IT IN THE RIGHT SPOT - OR NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN POST.
Rule #7 - SEE Rules # 1 through 6 if you still DON'T understand.
