Sujet: I can't find a topic on installing effect plugins...

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I downloaded a few effects from this site onto my flash drive. Then tried to open them on my DJing comp. I doubled clicked on the file and it said "Installation successful". I did this for all the effects and the same msg appeared, yet when I open VDJ (LE version for now) there are no new effects added. How do I do this?

you need pro to be able to install effects

Sorry, the software that you received with your DN-MC6000 is a limited edition (LE) and does not allow custom skins, effects, etc. to be used or the program configuration options to be changed (Except during the 20 day trial of Pro.) Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html

To be able to use custom skins, effects and much, much more you will need to upgrade to the full VirtualDJ Professional. Your VirtualDJ LE entitles you to a significant discount off the cost of upgrading. To receive this, please go to http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html and enter your software serial number in the box provided at the bottom of the page.

Thanks. I figured as much.

I did attempt to try the trial version, but unfortunately it only lasted a few hours before reverting back to LE after I clicking some sorta "reset my options" button in the last tab of the config menu. I didn't really get to experiment with much and that happened before I downloaded any effects. Anyway, I'm just waiting for a large credit payment to clear (hopefully today) before I purchase the $150 discounted upgrade. Hope it helps clear up troubles that I've been having.

Thanks again!

Thanks, but I purchased Pro this morning!

you should just download the plugin from the pluggin section of the website, run the install and you should see the effect in the effect section of the browser, alternatively you can paste a vst dll file in the sound effect folder "C"//user/documents/Virtual DJ/plugins/sound effects" most free ones on the internet work, however some don't. it is really just trial and error.

A couple of essential vsts are: Instajungle, qb filter and minimal systems instruments ultimate 3 band equalizer. Out of VDJ's plugins I use Magic loop, cues events, loop roll, echodoppler, granular and brakestart all are essential IMHO

Hey, thanks, that's all very helpful. When I upload Pro 7 and opened it, I discovered the effects that I downloaded last night were already in the efx tab. I will search for the ones you listed also as I am not thrilled with all the ones I have now. But that's part of the fun, right? Discovering new effects to cling to and make as part of my audio arsenal.

Hey, here's a question until I can try out different effects - is there an echo effect that will continue to play the echo even after the channel volume slider is dropped down? When I had the NS7FX it had this feature and was fun to play with until I returned it.

Thanks
~Cocco~

I couldn't find Magic Loop or Cues Events, but downloaded the other VDJ efx you listed and will play with them later. I'll also try the find the others you mentioned over the internet. Do they have to be specifically created for VDJ?

Thanks,
~Cocco~

yep echodoppler, will do that, you just need to move slider 1 to 50% to record the echo then to 100% to just play the wet signal. from there you have 3 options. slider 2 will compress the signal making a warp sound, slider 3 will change the depth of the echo (length) and slider 4 is a highpass filter. It a great plugin, have fun playing with it

magic loop and cues events are under "old" there is a little dropdown box at the top that changes the results filter.

No the plugins don't have to be created for vdj, the first three I gave you are vsts so no they were not created for vdj, but the general rule of thumb is the simpler the process on the audio the more likely it will work, eg glitch an amazing effect for a daw does not work, but simple filters or echo's etc... usually will, and generally you are looking for plugins that use the hosts GUI for operation

this has a mapping I use for echodoppler on a rotary knob, I t could also be used on a slider as well
