It doesn't work anymore with the latest iTunes, you need ver. 9 iTunes for it to work, I was also able to backup my .Xml playlist created in my iPod Touch and use them in iTunes, but that doesn't work anymore either, so there is no way right now to backup your playlist from your iPod touch/iPhone and no way to migrate your playlist into iTunes anymore from VirtualDJ...with the New ver. of iTunes...
I've learned that the hard way, trying to upgrade my backup iPod touch, the upgrade could not complete for some reason, so it wiped out everything in the iTouch, after much frustration I finally got it to complete the upgrade, but the backup it's suppose to do before the upgrade only backed up my contact and notes info, no movies, no apps, no video, no music and even more importantly No Play List.....
I had about 40 playlist that took me many, many months to tweak too get it right, and all my singers playlist with their favorate backing tracks, takes a long time to recontruct them,....
The backed up playlist I have don't work anymore, though they were created in my iTouch along with all my media files in one folder, they don't work anymore with this new iTunes......
So, Don't upgrade iTunes...

Ok, you are misunderstanding me, there is no problems selecting or reading the iTunes library or it's playlist folders at all in VirtualDJ, the problem is specific to what it is that I posted, which is Not being able to import into iTunes a playlist that is generated from VirtualDJ which we where able to do before this New release......It's Not possible Now anymore....
Another thing, which I'm not shure of, but does anybody know if it was possible at anytime from within VDJ to highlight an iTunes playlist and drag files into that iTunes playlist from VDJ..?
Thanks,
Joey....

Okay guys, You are not understanding the Problem,
1. I can see and open all iTunes playlist in iTunes 10.4 from within VDJ as per the image below...
2. The Problem is......you can Not import VDJ Playlist.m3u files Into iTunes library anymore....
This has Worked all the time before iTunes ver. 10,........ Now it only imports the playlist name and Not theTrack listings at all, ....Only a blank playlist...
Please try this step by step instructions I prepared on how to import a VDJ PlayList into iTunes...
1. Save your playlist in VDJ.
2. Open iTunes and click on any playlist.
3. Go to file, then library and choose "Import Playlist".
4. Go To: C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Name"\My Documents\VirtualDJ\Playlists.
5. Find your playlist you saved in VDJ, highlight and import.
6. Once imported and highlighted you'll see all tracks listed and can play them in iTunes.
7. Now this will work only on selected media that is in iTunes..
8 If some tracks are not in iTunes, you can always import into iTunes what is missing & Re-do above steps...
........Please try this and post your results on this thread.
Thank You..

Sorry to bring this back up but I'm experiecing this with the very latest software for iTunes, 10.5.1 and I have both Virtual Vinyl 7.05 and VDJ Pro 7 7.05b. I have a pc. The specs on my pc is not important as this is the same pc I was using just a week ago and everything was working perfectly.
I was having issues with my iTouch backing up so I got that resolved but in the process I believe I may have inadvertantly screwed up some of the setting on VDJ. I placed all the folders in the same location in iTunes, the backup on iTunes is going to the correct place and my device is mapped out correctly.
When I went to analyze a BPM for a newly downloaded track into iTunes I opened up VDJ only to see that none of the iTunes playlist were showing up on the main page. After playing around in the config/browser section I decided to unistall all the Virtual software on my pc and reinstall in the hopes that this will fix the issue, it did not. In the config/browser section I enabled Show iTunes and press ok and the main screen on VDJ (left side where iTunes should be) is blank.........
I don't want to drag 4500 songs into the VDJ playlist or create separate VDJ folders for each playlist because that really doesn't solve my issues, it places a bandaid on an infected problem. As I see it, you would have to make certain it's saved in multiple locations using the "drop and drag" method. The correct way is for VDJ to reload from iTunes when you launch the software and any changes made to itunes will reflect in VDJ.
Who can help me figure this out?

Try this, click on the iTunes folder, right click and choose reload to see if that helps..

Thanks for the reply JoeyKJ. I Can't, threre's no function when I put my cursor over playlist. Itunes doesn't even show up on the browser. I'm in the process of updating itunes. It may be the path. I downloaded the registry tool and I see where the path for itunes go but when I put the path in and saved it, VDJ still doesn't recognize my itunes folder. I'm going to change the path once more and see if it'll work, if not then I'm at a lost.

I think iTunes are messing around and changing things for whatever reason they see fit despite how it effects it's customers...The lease they can do is tell you first (This will effect 1,2,3) then update.. or decline..
I believe you will have to uninstall your current version and reinstall ver. 9.xx or 10.0...try this and post the results here...
Good Luck,

Can't change from 10 to 9. I tried that when I was having issues with my ipod touch and I got an error message stating something like, songs can't be transferred to iTunes 9 from a newer version of iTunes.
Are the playlist, when saved from itunes, now: iTunes Music Library.xml and iTunes Library.itl ?

I thought I had this nailed down but apparently I don't. Here's what I am experiencing now. I just purchased a song that downloaded to iTunes but it didn't populated to VDJ when I opened it.
So on the new version of iTunes, 10.5.1 when you export the library and the playlist what are you saving it as? iTunes Music Library.itl and iTunes Library.itl or iTunes.xml and Music.txt?
VDJ pro 7 is reading the files in what folder? C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes ? I used the registry tool and mapped out C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes.
Thanks!!!

Hi Joey,
Didn't see that anyone answere your question yet.
Using VDJ 7.0.5b Pro (b371), I saved my playlist to test.m3u from withing VDJ.
It contained 3 songs that were already imported in itunes.
I then opened itunes, imported the .m3u playlits, and all 3 songs showed up in a playlist in itunes.
The itunes version is 10.5.1.42
Hope this helps,
-Max

While understanding your view on Apple products, especially the cost/hardware issues, I also understand the other side. Being a linux user for over 15 years, I have a very biased opinion of MS products. However, the same logic applies to both, they work with the least problems for the most users. I have 2 iphone's and the same number of ipod's. I didn't get them because of the uberness factor, i got them because of a great deal on them. I use itunes to manage them because, while other programs can do certain things with them, itunes can do it all for all of them with minimal fuss. I really wish itunes had all the ability of Media Monkey. I wish I could share my library from itunes to all of my linux PC's (10 at this time). But, iTunes also has nice features, like not having to run a script to update broken playlist's because I retagged a file and renamed it. iTunes just tag's, renames/organizes, and updates the playlist. I can also back up all of my devices with one program. List's are immediately available in VDJ, with no importing.
Also, coming into a post with a problem about itunes, just to bash a product you don't like, c'mon... Merry Christmas!

Hi blckjck,
Appreciate your input on the test, though I've been reluctant to upgrade because of this issue, but thanks to you... I will do so now...and as for your comments on iTunes, I do share your viewpoints, but enough said, when there are millions of users woldwide, it must be a good reason...and it's not because it's free...
Thank you,
Joey....
