Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

hey guys.

i have been fooling around with vdj, and i want to explore even more, so if you have any suggestions on what i should buy to get started to mix properly with a mixer and maybe even a timecoded vinyl, depending on how much i need to invest.

atl east if you have any ideas about what a beginner should buy without throwing a bunch of money in to it.

i have a mac if it has any relevant info, and i pretty much need everything. of course i got my speaker system and such. but no external sound card and such

any help is greatly appreciated !!

Welcome to the DJ world. I don't mean this the wrong way, but most working professional DJ's are not "fooling around." This is an exciting business that can be very rewarding.

If you buy ANYTHING, buy a Pro Level license for Virtual DJ. Then save your money for what comes next.

First thing, you are going to need a media library. All the gear in the world is USELESS without a proper LEGAL media library. The types of gigs you plan to do will determine what music you will need. At Itunes prices, my archive would cost $15,000 to replicate. Now, if you are stealing your media, then you will get ZERO respect from most of the DJ community.

Your best bet if you are just starting out, would be to hook up with an ESTABLISHED, REPUTABLE, dj company in your area. Offer to work as a roadie for free with an option to become a paid DJ down the road. Explain that you really want to learn the DJ biz. If you are SERIOUS about it, they might just give you a shot.

There is a lot of really great information to be had here. Your best bet is to be polite, and respectful. Many of us have paid our dues to get to where we are today and you could learn from some of our experiences. You can't listen without shutting your mouth. Keep that in mind. Also, remember, you are always on stage, always. Act accordingly.
