Sujet: All Dj's be carefull with your backs

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

just thought i would do this post to all of you djs out there.
djing a number of years now and was always fit and could lift throw whatever weight of gear around up down ect.
for the last two months ive had a fractured spine from years of working hard.
so PLEASE PLEASE get yourself a trolley and a back strap when lifting/moving your equipment.
it maybe not now a problem (for you young guns) but it all takes it toll over the years.
us djs look after our equipment but remember your body is part of this.

(probably just bored at home posting this but it may help)

Good advice mate, get well soon.

bump

Good reminder, bud. Gear can be really heavy and it's very easy to get a hernia, which will put a DJ out for some time.

Nothing wrong with reminding others to be safe.

dont remember who, but someone on this forum had a thread about exercises for djs...?

I can definitely attest to that. Had problems for over three years. Tried
everything possible. Finally had to get the surgery.
Turned out to be more involved than I expected. Operation was April 11, 2011.
Surgery turned out well; by that I mean I was not falling down anymore
and the pain level dropped to a tolerable level.
That is until 2 weeks ago, when the pain level increased drastically.
Have an appointment with the doctor on 25th of Oct, but if this continues I will
be going in to see the him sooner.
All I can say is any back pain you have; get it looked at right away.
Good luck to all who have a bad back

My back is fine just now, unfortunately it's the wife's face that's causing me problems.

tayla i hope you better half never reads this forum as you slate her all the time (but probably deserves it lol).my problem is that my better half is nine years younger so i try stuff i shouldnt ha.

the thing is guys i got so used to having pain i didnt think i had a problem as i was earning money and im 100% dedicated to my clients so would always do gigs myself.
DONT get used to the pain as it there for a reason to tell you there is something wrong.so before the pain and problems start STOP it by taking the proper precautions ie...BACKSTRP AND TROLLEY.

I agree I'm 33 5'9 230lbs island built with my Lower back having 3 herniated disk which my DR says it's not sufficient enough to be cut open to fix it (take this in mind my suergon is the DR that saved sigfred and Roys life here in las vegas when his tiger attacked him on stage) and let me tell you the pain sucks big F@&king Balls life hasnt been the same since.. I have lost my temper on my family because of pain and the pain management sucks even worse to the point of my quality of life is determin on a day to day bases sometimes I'm hurting to bad to even Get out of bed and then their are days that when I'm medicated I'm like in another world. so some times I gotta suck it up just to come back to reality. But I have to do what I got to do to put a roof over my kids heads and food on the table and clothes on their back. so no matter how old you are and how tough you think you are word to the wise protect your health cuz you will pay for it in the end I guarantee that....

Hey staffy, if the wife ever saw my comments I'll def have a back problem, not forgetting my legs, arms and just about every bone in my body... that reminds me, must remember to switch on the sumo and cage fighting channel, she's on tonight.

i bet you my better half beats yours paul lol,
as is a saying here in dublin my mam would bash your dad ha.

Tayla, thanks for the laughs. I don't have to worry because, my testicles decided to merge together. Now, I just have one really big testicle, that can take a licking and keep on ticking (I'm laughing just writing this shit). I remember carrying folded subs up flights of marble stairs, with no problem. It's one of the reasons I went with Cerwin Vega in the early years. I decided I would only get equipment that I could carry by myself. I think that may have helped to keep me in this business for so long, because I started out with big equipment. I have slowly gotten smaller and smaller equipment, so I am lifting less over the years. I charge extra for stairs. At 59, it gets harder because things hurt, that I can't even identify.

I always say if you cant lift it by yourself then dont buy it. All my equipment is lightweight easy to carry by one person. Quite often I have wifie with me and she picks up my gear with no problem. light setup makes for easy in and easy out, as we get older it gets harder on the body especially after a couple of drinkls and its 4 am.

That would be the one and only DJ Rudedogg. Check out his YouTube channel for more info.
