Hi All,

I'm new to this so please be patient. I recently bought a Numark mixtrack pro. I like it but would like to add some turntables to play with as well. I would like to be able to control my mp3 library with the mixtrack and/or the turntables. Currently I only have the Mixtrack pro and my laptop running through a home receiver to speakers. Assuming I get/have the turntables, what additional equipment do i need to make this setup work. Again, any background details etc would be helpful as I stated...this is all new to me. Thanks in advance for the help.

i dont think you can add turntables or cd players to it... you need 2 (4 rca plugs) inputs in the back to plug in them in...

Here you go,

Its with a Basic Mixtrack but its gonna same, except youll choose the Mixtrack as your master, I'm not 100% on that but play with the settings. What version are you using??

Hope that helps
Huey

Thanks

Unless somethings changed I dont think your version allows you to use timecodes unless your using the trial version or a cracked version (which I dont advise)

What version??
Huey

at around 4 minutes in the video you can spot the SSl box, meaning you need an additional 4 in/out soundcard in order to control vinyl. You cannot do it with the Mixtrack Pro alone...

Which is what I said........

Thanks for the replies.

Just so I have this lined out in my head, additional to the mixtrack pro and lite version of VDJ that I already have, I would need:

*Upgrade to VDJ pro
*4 in 4 out audio card
*2 Turntables
*2 Time coded vinyl records

Is that right?

If so, would you mind giving me some recommendations for these items (entry level where possible)? This is just an experiment/for fun project and I don't gig so I don't want to invest a ton. Need more of a starting point just to see how I like it.

The soundcard could be a MAYA 44 USB.

Time coded vinyl - Rane CV02 for Serato Scratch Live

Turntables, well ideally you shouldn't skimp on those if you want decent DJ performance
so you maybe need to look at some used ones - shouldn't be hard to find a pair of Technics
SL1200s/SL1210s on eBay or similar sites.

So everything listed above is all i need correct?

yes

So in my scenario, am I going to be able to use the headphone jack on the mixtrack pro or am I going to have to hook it up the same way as the video?

Also, rather than getting a 4 in and out audio card. Would adding and additional 2in and out card work since the pro already had the audio card built in?

Anyone smarter than me that could draw up a wiring diagram for this using ESI Maya44 card, Mixtrack pro and the turntables?

Ok try this,

Run your turntables into 1/2 & 3/4 on the Maya 44.
Now open the advanced config and set it up like this,

Timecode 1 - Maya 44 - Input 1/2
Timecode 2 - Maya 44 - Input 3/4
Master - Mixtrack Pro - Output 1/2
Headphones - Mixtrack Pro - Output 3/4

I've never used a Pro but that seems like it should work out. Try it and let me know.

here you go champ, although come to think of it, i'm pretty sure the mixtrack doesn't use asio dirvers, so you probably cant have the two soundcards operating together, in that case just route the headphones through your laptop soundcard using advanced config

You guys are amazing. I am ordering components now. I just didn't want to order until I was sure I could make it work. Really appreciate the input and answers. You guys rock.

Numark site says the asio4all drivers can be used with the mixtrack pro. Also, the maya44 card says it has a separate headphone jack. I could that too for the que right?

Also, in this setup, where do i ground the turntables?

not too sure if the maya has a built in preamp actually, I have never used one, if it doesn't you will need a phono preamp, probably the cheapest option for this is to get a secondhand mixer that has one built in, I got a stanton sc3 about a year ago for $5 of ebay, but any cheap mixer would do the job, otherwise you should be able to pick up a phono preamp new for about $20-$30

yeah it would, but if you have $90 to spend on a mixer you should just start with a better soundcard with built in pre amp, your probably looking at $200 for the maya and $90 for the mixer, why not shop on ebay or craigslist etc... and get and audio 4,6 or 8 you should be able to pick one up for the same price.. and you won't need to upgrade for a very long time, the maya will last you a year before upgrading..

Good thoughts.. appreciate the input.....

Because I'm new to this, I'm not ready to invest a ton. I found the maya for under $100.. even lower than that at auction on ebay. The mixer comes with the direct drive tables I'm leaning towards.

While on the topic, I will throw out my gear thoughts, and maybe you have some suggestions that would be better for the money.

I currently own only the mixtrack pro.

Ordering:

2- Numark TT-1625 (direct drive version), Numark iM1 mixer -$300
1- Maya 44 audio card - $100

So roughly $400 total for 4in / 4out audio interface, mixer, and turntables. For that price, is there something else i should be considering?
