I just got a new setup put together and Im kind of geeking out about it so I figured Id share, thinking maybe someone else might find it cool too (or if someone else has a similar setup maybe they can share some of their experiences or how they are creative with it). Heres some description of what Im doing and a couple pictures. Hopefully soon Ill be able to share a link to a legit mix; so far Ive just been playing around trying to get a feel for what kind of new stuff I can do with the setup. Heres a picture of the whole thing...

The center of the setup is obviously VirtualDJ, on which Im running a 4 deck skin. The controller Im using is the Denon DN-MC6000 which has native 4 deck control and a built in legitimate mixer for adding non-software based sources to the mix as well.

I (generally) have the platters on the MC6000 controlling decks 2 and 3 which I have set to opposite sides of the cross fader. Nothing real special so far, but this is where I think it starts to get interesting. I have Ableton Live Re-wired into deck 4, which I am controlling with an Akai APC 40; people have obviously done this before and I never really got on board with the idea of playing out using Ableton Live - until I bought a copy of the Stutter Edit plugin (if you havent used or heard of it before i suggest you check it out). The Stutter Edit plugin requires midi input in order to play each of the effects, for which I am using an Akai MPK25...

I then also have a turntable wired into Aux1 (channel 1) of the MC6000. My thought is that I can use this turntable in conjunction with the MC6000s mixer for scratching (since even with good jog wheels I find it difficult to scratch effectively). Im not sure if its possible but I think Im going to try and run timecode vinyl so I can use Deck1 in the software, the actual turntable, and all of my digital scratch samples.
So this gets me...
Deck 1 - turntable with timecode vinyl for scratching (hopefully)
Deck 2 and 3 - control with the jog wheels and other controls on the MC6000
Deck 4 - Ableton Live plus Stutter Edit controlled with the APC40 and the MPK25
The capability for live remixes that all of this enables is hard for me to wrap my head around since I\\\\\\\'m still getting used to it, but Im looking forward to pulling together some really creative stuff.
Any feedback or ideas for how to use all of this cohesively are welcome.
Cheers,
-GrimTurkey
