Check that your Auto Gain is set correctly in CONFIG > OPTIONS. It should be Auto + Remember. Also BPM scan your whole library, this will also scan and set the gains.

The other way to mix is manually. Here are some guidelines for basic beat mixing. For better understanding you have to configure DSS DJ with different channels for master and monitor signals.

you could always "plugin" your headphones... LOL I had to say that... :D

I always do a BPM scan when I indroduce new music to my library. Unfortunately, last night, I was playing background music at a fundraiser.
I was not usiing my own DJ equipment. They had me plug my laptop into their 16 channel board. Since I was not able to use my regualr mixer, I used the headphone jack from my laptop. the music played fine, but in Automix, everytime it went from one track to the next, the gain dial in the onboard mixer would jump wildly from midnight to full max or anywhere inbetween. the levels were all over the place. I took it out of automix and used the two players manually, but every time i loaded a new song into one of the players, the volume of the song that was playing would drop significantly. This board did not have any que functions, and since I was using my headphone output to feed the board, I had no way of previewing any song for volume issues. Obviously, I will not be hired back by that company. I realize that i normally do not configure my system that way. But once in a while it is neccesary and I can't have this type of outcome again.

If you were using songs that you have not previously played then they will not have the optimal gain settings until the song has loaded in full (Automix will start playing it before it has fully loaded.)

To avoid these sort of problems, you should always pre-analyse all your music at home before going to a gig.
