Hi,
Im looking at buying a new controller as i have just bought a new laptop and virtual dj seems to be running sweet on it (even my timcodes that i gave up on a long time ago).
Anyways i see pioneer have a nice range of controllers and just want a little input from you guys using them.
im looking at getting either the ergo, DDJ T1 or the DDJ S1.
Now sometimes the most expensive i not always the best so could you guys who are using the above please comment on how you like them then hopefully it will help me make my decision lol.

Is this for home use or club work?
I had the same problem deciding which to get and found the value of the ERGO is amazing. I've used it for 2months now in clubs 5times a week and it's performed brilliantly.

It will be for club use.
Im just watching videos of all of them now and it looks as though the ergo lacks in features comparred to ddj t1.
But Do you know if the ergo has eq kills (can you push the eq knobs in to kill high, mid, low)

The T1 is not supported natively by VDJ as it is a Traktor controller. The S1 is however ....

The Ergo doesn't even have VU meters......It's a toy in my opinion ...

Neither do lots of the top range mixers and in most clubs (especially Luminar or ex luminar clubs) they still have formula sound mixers with only the master volume. Also he'll be using a laptop which will show his volumes just as clear.
I plug mine into the clubs mixer via phono cable and it's spot on. (I work in clubs from 500 capacity to 3000 each week).
I've yet to meet a DJ who messes around with a decent clubs mixer and feeds direct into the amps which is something the ERGO doesn't have (xlr inputs/outputs)
The sound card is as good as the other Pios.
It doesn't lack any features the others do as far as i'm aware? It's as sturdy as a controller you want needs to be for movability between venues. I purchases a Gator 25 case from amazon for £120 and this is perfect for carrying it around.
I honestly thought it was just a cheap toy before i got it and can't believe the value. I've used the S1 and T1 and they're not worth the extra cash.

Nope, it's a Numark one!

I would disagree there .... Luminar have been short of money (and badly ran) for some time now. Their gear is out of Noah's ark as they've never invested in the business. They've now been bought over which may mean a brighter future, however please don't compare other clubs with Luminar venues as they're a very bad example!
Personally I wouldn't use the Ergo in a large club either, it's a low spec entry level controller.

No, but none of them do.
The DDJ units are all the same built-in sound card - so they are only different by what connections are available on the back. But what is processing the sound is all the same.

@ Rob. If i were you, i would go for the Numark NS6. Its a better deck and You will feel the difference. The Ergo looks ok but its usb powered. Anything USB powered, the head phone volume will be low compared to a deck that has a power supply. At a Club, you need a good headphone volume. If you are looking to spend less money around 500, Buy the Numark N4 deck. If you want to spend more, get the NS6. The Controller is rock solid and everything feels really good. The jogs are nice and the acurracy is great. The Pioneer DDJ T1 and S1 is a Upgraded version of the Ergo. The feel of the Ergo, DDJ T1 & S1 is the same. Its all plastic and the jogs are not that great.

Can you explain why its a low spec controller apart from price? Have you used it?
Luminar just like MOST other club venues are short of cash in the current climate and being bought out isn't going to make a different to them - they're venues are just too big on the whole. I used Luminar as an example though as they on the whole have FS mixers - MANY other venues also still have them too.

I've heard the NS6 mapping for Virtual DJ isn't great and that it doesn't perform very well with anything apart from Serato Itch, you might want to keep that in mind.

if cstoll one of atomix hardware experts says it's good, then it's good. (it's also atomix's preferred controller for their booth at shows) I would put it down to settings.
Unfortunately with a program as customisable as vdj, the out of the box settings can never be perfect, that's why serato has a better reputation because they lock the settings before you get it so you don't need to set it up. But it's as easy as downloading the registry tool and changing the default scratch latency for the jog, and remapping the controller to suit your style something you can't to in itch, and you can't do as indepth with traktor.

Well then you clearly heard wrong and most likely from someone using an illegal version of VirtualDJ.

Stay away from Pioneer. There are always overprice and the warranty/ service departments are horrible.
