Hey guys,
I am slowly heading into music video's. So I have a friend coming with me this weekend that has the full version of VDJ7 and he does video's in night clubs. This Friday I have a high school dance. The 2 video's I have that I am questioning is LMFAO's Sexy and I Know it and Cobra Starship's You Make Me Feel... Please let me know if you guys or gals play either one???

The versions he has of Sexy and I know has the guy taking his pants off to show he has on like a speedo kind of thing and thrust's his pelvis and then throughout the video the same thing happens.. I think that is a big no no for high school dances.

Same kind of thing in You make me feel there is girl around 1:20-1:23 who sticks up her middle finger and to me this is another no no for a high school dance...

Let me know if you guys agree with this...
Thanks...

I think where you should be getting guidance on this is the school themselves, explain to them you have reservations on playing certain songs and you would like clarification on what is permissible.

For what you have already red flagged, I would think the school will probably go with your own conservative discretion.

Have a good one.

Welcome to the life of a school vj where your best friends are slideshow, Live camera and clipbank :)

Then stay away from some of the Lady GaGa videos aswell. While the songs are popular, she takes it over the edge of raunchiness in some of her stuff.

I am a school DJ/VJ and I won't play either of the videos you suggested. I find myself only playing videos at schools part of the time because most are inappropriate for school use (sexual, shots of alcohol, etc.).

It's too bad, the "I'm Sexy and I Know It" video is hilarious. Wiggle, wiggle.

yet another reason i like working clubs and not being mobile.

believe me i'm not knocking the mobile dj - far from it. i'd just go nuts if i had to play all those edited down songs and videos. more power to ya.
and when the kids come up and ask you why you're playing the walmart edit - just point at the teachers and say "that's why". and if the kids want to "plug in the iphone cause they have the song on there. it's good really!" just say NO!

wildcountryclub and jn015647 thanks for the info... I have DJ (no video) for these kids before... That was 2 years ago and now with the new trend heading towards video I figured why not give it a shot... I actually like the full version of Party Rock Anthem it is so funny I can't stop laughing at times... I will stay with my first thoughts and that was just to play the audio versions and use a slide show during those songs.

They are doing a Vegas Theme night so the colors are red and black so lucky for me I have plenty of Vegas picts and Uplighting for the Cafeteria...

The last time I DJed for these kids, they had the teachers call the principal (who was in the office btw way, at the time no one knew) and asked to extend the dance till midnight and they got a compromise of 11... Never happened before... So I figured to setup the game for them even though a different class year...

I'll post some pictures...

Not sure yet on screen size... I have 2 trusses so I am thinking 10' above me with either a 5' or 10' on the side of me only have 1 projector with the other truss... I have done 1 event before with a 10' screen and it is really big and do not think I need it that big... I do have a 50' VGA or S-Video cable. What would you use? Quality seems to be better with the VGA than the s-video. I can put the screen in a corner if I take advantage of the 50's cable.... the projector I am using is a Sharp XR-50S the specs are : 2700 Lumens, SVGA Native Resolution (800 x 600, 4:3)1, BrilliantColor™ DLP® Technology (2000:1 Contrast Ratio), Sealed DLP Chip with Filter-Free Design, High Output 7 Watt Audio System, Built-in Closed Caption, Presentation Assist Remote with PC/Mouse Control, Quick Start On-Screen Setup Guide

The lighting truss will have the following Chauvet Intimidator 2.0 X 2, O-Beast X 1, Fallout X 1, American DJ Emerald Beam not sure what else, I have a Vue 3, 2 X Elan, Vue 1. What would you guys suggest I am leaning towards the Vue 3. I have a Jem ZR-12DMX (too much output for a school) The traditional fogger...

Gonna be Interesting...

Party Rock is good, one scantily clad at the end but not too bad.

What are you projecting on, a screen or a wall? That will dictate the size. VGA will yield a better picture, unless you have HDMI as an option.

I'm not familiar with all of your lights, but for the cost you might think about adding a micro-galaxian or micro3d. They seem to be a big hit at school dances and go well with new club music and dub.

To be honest I don't have a Screen yet so I am using Bed sheets... I wash and starch them and it works well for the time being till i get into the videos full time... Unfortunately both projector and laptop do not have HDI (Can't wait for me new one) I heard you can you cat5E cable and have it go into a Hub and then split with no signal loss at all... That is how Best Buy has all the TV's hooked up and the computer monitors that is what I was told by a Geek Squad guy....

The American DJ Emerald Beam is a great piece was sought after by clubs for a long time since they could use they in audio only mode... I simply put it on a switch and turn on and off as needed....

I thought about getting a newer laser but none really strike my fancy as of yet. The one Chauvet Came out with called the Scorpion RVM, Light source: One red laser diode (650 nm; 15 mW) and one violet laser diode (405 nm; 20 mW), Colors: Red, violet, and/or magenta. I love Violet.... The new series is around $800 I don't have that kind of money.. I just looked up the Scorpion™ RGY they are selling it at $300 an that is not that bad... I would get 2 though.. One for each side of the truss... Linking them as well...

I am going through videos right now and figuring out what ones on the top 40 are ok to play.... I don't stray to far from that unless I head towards Club stuff like the New Dance Mix USA, Vol. 2 Great Disc along with New Dance Mix USA and Now that's What I call Club Hits Series as well....

This is funny. Most of the girls and most of the teachers are or were sluts. And I mean that in a good way. You can't put the genie back in the lamp. They have tried it through the ages, and it will not change. You cannot stop them from seeing what they want, especially today. Trust me, they have more important things to worry about, then what video the DJ is playing. It's really funny since I just played "Dance (A$$)", where Nicki Minaj tells you what part of her anatomy to lick. Like these kids have not seen this video and worst. They have a site now where college girls are looking for sugar daddy's to help with tuition. Not for nothing but I'm cashing in my 401k, so I can help put some of these poor girls through school. Don't let me hit the Powerball, they will build a dorm with my name on it. I'm just trying to do my part for the community.
