Hi all,
I saw that the numark 4trak was released in the UK today and is available to buy, but I can't see any mention of if there is a mapping for vdj with it or available to download. This is the one I want to get really but not if it doesn't work with vdj yet!
Cheers
Andy.

Just get an NS6. Its the same thing except the 4Trak is specifically built for Traktor. I have an NS6 and use it with VDJ.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I did think about the ns6 but it doesn't have standard effects control (4 knobs and 4 buttons) and it also doesn't have filter knobs on each channel of the mixer. I need these more than I need the other stuff like the large jog wheels.
I was hoping somebody in the know might be able to tell me if/when it might be supported?

We have not been provided any information about the control unit that was added to the NS6 to make it the '4Trak'.
But as already suggested - get an NS6.
All the features you are asking about are on the NS6 in the FX section as different modes. There is a FX and FILTER mode.
Traktor was just 'demanding' in having a break out panel for the extra knobs. By the way - the extra knobs are not 'standard' controls - they are specific to Traktor.

Yeah, sorry, you're right, they're not standard controls, but what I meant to say is that I want a controller with lots of knobs on! I really like the idea of having a dedicated filter knob on each channel and enough knobs to activate and tweak several effects without having to scroll through them on the screen. I've currently got an old DMC2 and that's great for effects because it's got that row of 8 little buttons (originally for looping) that I've mapped to 8 different effects that I can have at the push of a button.
I would really like the12 extra knobs on the 4trak, but it sounds like I shouldn't rush out and buy it yet! A filter knob for each channel was the main thing really, but also the extra knobs to control effects too would be nice!
Originally I was looking at the vci-400 because that has plenty of buttons, but it was a bit small when I saw it in real-life. I wanted something a bit more showy!

Well with the NS6 you could always remap the GAIN knobs to control the individual FILTER effects. And the A/B FX buttons could be used for launching specific effects like you had with the DMC2.
If you are not looking for 'scratching' capabilities (since you are currently using a DMC2) ... then you could look at the A&H Xone:4D ... lots of knobs and buttons that could be remapped to your needs.
Not sure why you might think the VCI-400 is not 'showy' - but OK ... think that unit would be a good step up from a DMC2.

You could always map jog effects, They are the bomb, they activate when you touch the jog and you control the sliders by moving the jog backwards and forwards, and I have mapped shifts to keep them on, on release of the jog if you want to sustain the effect... If you get the ns6 you could make the fx a & fx b buttons that are currently mapped to the sampler into shifts to activate the jog modes, I just sent in a mapper that has 9 of them, you could just paste the bits straight into the ns6...
Instructions are below explaining what the jog fx are, the mapping cant be far from being approved and ready for download

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I'm actually using the jogwheel to control effects on my current DMC2- it's really cool!
After your comments, I wonder if it's worth looking again at the vci400 because that one has a lot of knobs and buttons. The reason I was put off initially was that I saw it on the internet and then when I finally saw it in the flesh it looked a bit smaller than I imaged.
I had ideas of getting something that looked and felt as much like a pair of decks as possible, but really it seems that the vci has the most number of controls and a good workflow so perhaps I should just go for that and not worry about whether it looks like a pair of decks!
I'm off shopping tomorrow to see some in the flesh and hopefully I'll report back which one I've gone for! :)

Thanks for all the suggestions, I went for a vci 400 and bought it today... And now can't successfully install the asio driver for some reason! Might start a new thread if I don't get it sorted tonight.
I got the DMC2 literally when it first came out about 5 years ago and used it every week since. It served me well so I'm pretty excited to get something new... I hope it works for just as long!

Jakovcki hello! my name is Andrea, I'm Italian and I'm writing with a translator forgive me for the mistakes, I just received as a gift the new numark 4trak, but who gave it did not look if it was compatible with VDJ, because he did not know, and being a gift I can not return it back, you know how sentimental value.
Wandering through the site, I saw your video that you were able to map the console or almost, I ask you this, you can have the map? Through early and excuse the trouble
hi andrea!

Hi,
as it will not work with any other version than the Professional Full it does not really makes sence to send you these files. But beleave me - it's fully working ;-)

Custom mappers are only available to registered licensed users who have purchased the full VirtualDJ Professional: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html - Also, as above, the full Pro is required to be able to use MIDI controllers and custom mappers.
If you like VirtualDJ, please support the software and its future development by purchasing it.

then you tell me that if I buy an original version of VDJ my console it works? or throwing money at risk?

Have a look at the video - you can see that i get all the stuff working. This video is a few weeks old - so beleave me it's working on your PC without issues. Just check that you get the correct ASIO drivers before.
As i remember there are drivers for W7 32/64 Bit and Windows XP. Better take a look for W8 drivers if you own Windows 8.
