Hi everyone,

i'm currently buying stuff to dj at a couple of partys. I have 2 msr400 speakers ( http://www.zzounds.com/item--YAMMSR400 )

I'm planning on buying a Yorkvill LS700P subwoofer to go with them ( http://www.alpha-music.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=5499 )

But a friends of mine keeps telling that i should buy 4 speakers and no sub instead of 2 speakers and 1 sub. He tells me to buy a pair of these speakers : http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-EUROLIVE-B212D-1-35-inch-Compression/dp/B002C4N8TM

Should i listen to him? What would be the best 2 msr400 + 2 b212d or 2msr400 and 1 LS700p sub ?

Thx!

Don't Listen to him!

Your 2-mrs400's + Yorkville ls720p (15" sub)

So you don't really recommand the ls700p?

Caliente is my boy, and no disrespect to him at when I say that the 700P is a great powered sub. Yes, I agree that a 15 and even better 18 inch will give you a lower rumble, I've done huge rooms with one or two of the 700Ps with great results. I too own many 18" and 15" subs, both active and passive.

When I'm on a one man job and don't have the man power to load bigger subs and amps, the 700P is a great option.

The Harbringer is a great sub too!

Whats Good my Brother Kizzle. Its been a while. If i had a gig for 100 people, the 15 inch yorkville sub will work nice with two powered speakers. I can setup quicker because the sub is more portable.

caliente is right

a double 10 inch calls itself a sub ?? really????????????????????

Yes. Fact. Good for small parties that need some bottom end.

I've used 2 Mackie SRM-450's with a CV Earthquake and wished I had more bottom end. Granted it was an outdoor gig. :-)

kizzle if you say it's good for a small party , then i'm sure it is

i still think Caliente was right saying 15" and up is usually the starting size for a subwoofer......

blckjck .....outdoors you need way more power than normal, that system you mentioned is

a good set up for many indoor events......

i haven't heard a Bose , Denon ,or Cerwin-Vega sub that i didn't like

i was testing a Denon down firing 10 inch at a Circuit City? i think it was , blasting

some classical music for a test listening and the speaker levitated up off it's shelf

another occasion at a warehouse up in northern NJ , blasting Allman Bros. thru

a 2000 ? watt system with a 30" CV in a closed cabinet .... it was awesome, the huge glass windows

out front were vibrating from the sound pressure ......

gents if you guys are into great bass sound get some of the VST plugins for EQ .....

i have Classic Eq by kjaerhaus audio ..... great semi parametric , harder to find anymore it's abandonedware

thank you DJ in Norway for recommending that to me .....

another goodie is EQ 18 ......18 bands graphic ...but it only has 2 hi bands at 8khz and 12 khz ......which means it has 16

bands for the lowest lows thru the high mids .....so you can really have your way with it with the

lows. the 2 lowest bands at 20 and 31 work great so be careful depending upon the strength of your

speakers

Right now i am using two JBL Prx 615m speakers with the QSC KW 181 sub and it sounds really nice. The biggest prviate gig i DJ yed last year was for the marines. It was 300 plus in Attendance. The speakers sounded great for a large room but, i think i may need another KW.

that's a good system.....

interesting too the connection of speakers and the military ...

James B Lansing & Sons was a small but good company when it landed it's first

big contract with the Army .... i believe they are the guys that developed kevlar

into speakers, and originally for the military .....
