what skin should a newbie use to figure this all out?
i use mixlab rightnow and can basik beat match with that but mixing is hard to figure out with it (its only 2 decks) and when i use a 4 deck i find it hard to make this sound smooth till i get a controller (mice are tricky to use)
the reason i ask is i am having a party in two weeks and want to practice basic beat matching and if i can get some skills a little mixing.

You can't use another skin unless you're a registered user......
I would suggest buying yourself a controller - as you say, a mouse is not really suitable.
Starting point would be the Numark DJ2GO unit. Very small, very low cost, but still offering much more of a tactile DJ friendly interface.
