Sujet Macbook Pro i7 overheating

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

We are experiencing a mini heatwave here in the UK. Last night 45 minutes before the end of my gig at my residency I noticed that loading videos slowed to a crawl. Hadn't noticed this before and was puzzled at first. I then checked the corner of the laptop where the power supply is connected and ssssssssssssssssss............. WOW! Could fry eggs on there!

My residency doesn't have any aircon and the windows were all open to try and dissipate the heat but it still gets very, very hot. The DJ booth is the hottest area in the whole building as there are 3 amplifiers pumping out heat. I have to work in shorts and vest in the summer.

I do carry a cooling plate with me but don't usually use it as its not normally necessary. It's a bit awkward putting the cooling plate under the laptop amongst the wires as its working, but, as it was 45 minutes from the end I decided to continue and pray (backup iPod was connected to the mixer and running all night as always).

Must remember to setup with the cooling plate next week. I use a flight case and the laptop stays inside for transport. I can't leave the cooling plate in position as it raises the height of the laptop and the lid can't be fitted.

Incidently, Macbook Pro i7 Quad Processor with 8gb RAM, 500gb internal HD. All music and videos are on an external 1tb HD. The Mac is Bootcamped with Windows 7 and all DJing is done from the W7 side.

If you're using a laptop and tunes/videos start loading slower than normal it's worth checking for excessive heat. :-)
