Every two weeks, since 2010, I try to make a Sunday Night Mix. Each mix a totally different genre, experimenting with different types of music. Below the 2012 series so far. I hope everyone can find something to enjoy in the selection!

Sunday Night Mixes, 2012: Part 37 - Electro Méxicana
Various Mexican artists have been experimenting with combining musical heritage with electronic sounds. Many of these artists united into the Nortec Collective, others like the Mexican Institute Of Sound went their own way. The result is a truly unique sound!
So forget about the US inspired Tex Mex food, guys with sombrero's sleeping under a cactus and slamming tequila with lime and salt. Within the synths and beats you'll find some real Mexican spirit: the country that is equally colorful as it is harsh, the people that are warm and hard working and their amazing culture.

Sunday Night Mixes, 2012: Part 38 - Detroit Techno
Detroit, a harsh industrial city.
In the early 70s it experienced heavy economic downfall. From the ashes techno has been born. Mainly black artists started to use analog synthesizers and early drum machines, particularly the Roland TR-909, to create that distinctive techno feeling.
This mix feature some of the first and second wave artists and is, when it comes to the mixing, equally raw to the style itself; Its a fully improvised live mix. Fun since the music is less predictable, has more complex rhythm pasterns and much more soul than any other techno style in the world.

Not your regular beats this time! Something much more haunting!
Italian Horror in the 70ties was not just notorious for its brutal scenes and screaming actresses, very often the music and soundscapes were also of exceptional high quality.
Haunted Voices takes you on a terrifying journey back in time to the ultimate paradox: sweet beautiful voices on slightly sleazy music all within the context of terrible torture, fear and suffering. The tracks are both from movies and regular albums, some pretty hard to find!

As a long time fan of Mike Oldfield I couldnt let this one go by!
On 1 February 2013 Tubular Beats was released by Mike Oldfield and the German producer York. Unlike previous club remixes of Oldfields work this project was a true collaboration, making use of parts from the original multitrack tapes as well as new parts played by Oldfield himself.
This mix features several of the tracks mixed into one adventure so have fun with this modernized tour into nostalgia!
