Sujet: Vjay seems like a pretty cool app!

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Check out what I found while snooping around algoriddim's website

http://www.algoriddim.com/vjay

I tried to buy it buy its not live on the App store yet. Comes out tomorrow.

Why cant I get a VDJ app like this?

Dear Atomix:
Remember in the early CD days how Denon was king of the clubs? their rack mount CD players were industry standard. Then out of nowhere Pioneer brings out this new CDJ format, Denon is slow to react and sticks with the rack mounts. Pioneer became number 1 not because of better quality or technology, Denon had always been know for great quality and R&D. Pioneer became number one because the established market leader at that time (Denon) didn't react fast enough. By the time Denon reacted and came out with table top CD player (aka: CDJ) of it's own, Pioneer had already made a name for itself in the DJ game.

Moral of the story is: Don't sleep on the IPAD! You might crack the screen LOL or in Atomix cause you might miss the window of opportunity.

I'm guessing one of the main reason why we haven't seen a proper Ipad version of VDJ yet is because of the proffit margins being a lot less for Ipad Apps and you don't want to hurt your PC/MAC software sales. So VDJ wouldn't sell for $300 on the app store BUT there's a lot more IPAD users than there is MIDI contoller DJs and at $20 a pop I'm sure a proper Ipad version of VDJ would sell great! Its much more easier for someone to spend $20 than $300 on software. I've seen algoriddim djay software start out as something basic and cool to play with when I was bored to something that I may actually consider playing live at a gig thanks to all the recent software updates. By the time a proper VDJ app made it on the IPAD, algoriddim software may have built a solid name for it self with serious DJs. With all the DJ software knowledge Atomix has, VDJ has a limited window to still be able to claim to be the standard/prefered IPAD solution of serious DJs.

For me an ipad is to limiting to be used as a dj platform. 64gb of memory shared between apps ad music is to small to be useful for a dj that does things like weddings proms anniversaries. Also I do not like Apples model of preventing their users from using their hardware how they want. Making it illegal to jailbreak your own phone or use Mac OS on a non Apple product.

It's one thing not to like Apples business model....I for one am not an apple fan, my laptops will always be windows, my phone will alway be android BUT when it comes to tablets you cannot deny that apple makes the best ones at the moment. With all the apps and accessories available for iPads no other tablet manufacture has that kind of support from application developers and accessory manufactures.

The iPad itself does pose some control limits when it comes to DJing BUT iPad has MIDI capabilities that companies like Numark are starting to develop upon with products such as the IDJ Live, Mix deck quad and IDJ Pro. I can only imagine how bad ass an IDJ Pro would be with VDJ running in an IPad.

I'm sure there's a way around storage with cloud storage that vdj can offer as a premium like an "in app" purchase.

I’m going to start using my 16gb ipad for video when I don’t feel like bringing all my equipment downtown. Since I DJ at clubs I could easily DJ with 100 or 150 songs. Swap out a few songs here and there when people get tired of "call me maybe" and "FUN.". Back when I had record creates, I didn’t carry anymore songs then that. Yes I hate apple/itunes just like anybody else but the thing freakin works. What I also love is if you need a song or 2 you can buy the song directly in the app. Also love how it shows all the itunes top 20 for all genre's.

thanks,
David
