I didn't post this under "PC Support," because it is actually not a "support" issue in my mind. ...I was wondering, using VDJ to MIX only with a laptop PC, Win. 7....What are the important specs I need to look for when laptop shopping in the future? ....My only thoughts were Intel Processor, 4GB RAM (minimum), does clock speed (GHz) matter in the long run?.......what else?.......What do I need to look at for strictly mixing reliably with VDJ now and with future upgrades?......It seems like there is a lot of info about the upper end specs needed for video mixing, but not for strictly audio mixing.
*** I would like to have this same machine I would be using for mixing to also be capable of some very light audio editing, ie. Audacity, Sony Acid, (for loops samples, editing etc.)....but certainly would not ever run a full DAW off of this machine........thanks forum!! =D

So what are you're specs? I purchased my laptop in 08 with no intentions of using it to dj. I don't do video but I was also worried about compatability with my rmx. I still continued to tweek it to make it run as smooth as possible. I 'think' high end specs are needed for the guys that do video with like 4 decks and or midi cdj type stuff. I've got win7, 2.5 ghz, 4gig ram. It works flawlessly with basic mixing with my rmx. I hope this was some kind of help to you..good luck

It will run smooth with 4GB ram and 2Ghz CPU if you do not have anything else running in the background. I find it runs much better on my newest MacBook Pro 2.9Ghz i7 cpu with 8GB ram. It ran fine with my 2.4Ghz Core2 Duo but the CPU usage got pretty high when loading decks and trying to rip a CD. It really depends on how you use the system.
I run VDJ both on Win7 Bootcamp and Mac OSX (Lion) with my MacBook. My newest machine is my main rig but I still use either my Sony Vaio 2.2Ghz/4 GB ram Win7 or Core2 Duo 2.4 Ghz/8GB Ram MacBook for a backup.
As a note if you plan on ever running anything in the background like Ableton Live, or RECORDING sets the higher specs the better it will run.

VDJ 7 for audio only will run on pretty much anything.
I have it running on a Vaio U70 tablet from 2004 with 1gb RAM and a Celeron 900Mhz processor, and it's replacement model the UX1 as shown below.

Saying that, it may be wiser to wait and find out what spec will be required for VDJ8 as that will be released at some point in the future.

The one above is a 2007 tablet that was one of the first computers to have a built in SSD drive.
The one below was the first tablet as such from 2004 and it still works brilliantly running Windows 7
