Direct me to the scratch/latency thread please
I have the NS6 and a new MBP. I have looked for the thread about best settings for scratching but can't find it.

The original thread is here:

I believe you want to set your Scratch Latency to 1026 in the registry tool.

will the registry tool be beneficial if you are using timecode vynils? i dont know much about this registry tool. are there any tutorials or anything?
Posté Tue 07 Aug 12 @ 12:27 pm
No it won't effect timecodes, at least I don't think it will. Are you having trouble with vinyl timecodes? If so I'd say start your own thread and read my findings here, http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/146709/General_Discussion/Perfect_Timecodes__.html
And here's info about the registry, http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/RegistryValues.html
Hope that helps

The info I provide in the video is straight from Chris (Cstoll ) and that tweak has worked on every controller I've had my hands on from a Mixtrack, Mixtrack Pro, Mixdeck, VCI300 and a VMS4, TRY IT CAUSE IT WORKS.............

Thank you Beatbreaker1... I will test the settings tonight and report back.
Next question, and this is a VERY important one.
How do I get REAL control over my volumes???
Master works just fine but the gains just don't work well for me.
I need to know the correct settings to adjust the volume via the gain knobs so if I turn them slightly, I get the volume I want instead of having to turn the knob all the way up or down in order to get an increase or decrease of volume per channel.
This is what is happening now...
let's say I have my up faders all the way up (I dj up and down as well as crossfade). I have my gain knob set to 12:00 and I need a little more volume on a ch. I turn the gain up to 1:00 and I get no change. I can go to 2:00 and still no change. 3:00 STILL no change in volume.
I have to go all the way up, THEN back down to lower than 12:00 in order to get any change at all. It's a PAIN IN THE ASS to DJ like that. Especially doing a karaoke show where I will have to adjust the gains often.
How can I fix this?!?
Getting those things right for me would make VDJ as perfect as it could be before 8 drops.

Need to analyze tracks first before playing them or normalize the forder with a 3rd party software before use if it's that much of an issue...
Don't forget you have a channel gain and a master gain, so step up the channel first before the master...

If you are using a MIDI controller then you will need to move the gain knob to the position as indicated on the skin to be able to make any changes. This is known as 'soft take-over' and is used to prevent a sudden jump in gain that could occur otherwise (The same also applies to the pitch slider.) Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Soft%20Take-over%20or%20Non-MIDI%20Mixer.html
VirtualDJ analyses each song that you load, so the saved gain (And gain knob position) will be different for each. Without soft take-over the gain would instantly jump to the MIDI controller's knob position as soon as you move the knob, resulting in a sudden increase or decrease in volume appropriately.
If you don't want to move the knob to the correct position each time to make an adjustment, you could change the mapping of the gain knob to gain_relative - This will adjust it up/down relative to its current position.

Thanks Support Staff...
As far as latency goes, are there any other settings I need to adjust besides Scratch Latency to 1026?

Should I do anything with the...
JogSensitivityScratch
JogSensitivityCue
JogSensitivityBend
TouchWheelRamp
CueSensibility
Should MIDILowLatency be checked instead of ScanHercules?
What about the video section of the registry tool?
How can I get the cue buttons to work the way I want them to? If the track is NOT playing, I want the cut buttons to take me to the cue point but NOT start playing.
If the track IS playing, I want the cue button to take me to the cue point and PLAY.

On both controllers . I also move the the cue and scratch sliders in vdj options to get a good feel.
Djcity u asked some good questions about the registry values I hope u get a response

1)
JogSensitivityScratch
JogSensitivityCue
JogSensitivityBend
=> They are the values affected to the same sliders in the config => Options
2) You don't need to modify the Hercules option as you don't have an Hercules controller but a Numark one.

You can do this and much more with custom mappings.
Try changing the CUE button to the following:
play ? hot_cue ? hot_cue : play_stutter : stop
