It plays timecode.
Put it in the CD player and press play.

No, there is no way to be able to tell unless you have access to the USB drive in question.
If you are allowing others access to your laptop then it's your responsibility to ensure that they are trustworthy and/or properly supervised to ensure that they do not steal your music and/or other files.
