Had this problem on NYE. My buddy loaned me an external hd with a TON (500gb) of Karaoke zips and wen I tried to navigate it, VDJ just froze trying to scan it (current track kept playing). it basically made it unuseable as I was afraid it would lock up vdj and id have dead air.
Is this a result of them being .zip? My normal mp3 library is 100gb and it never causes this problem.
Thanks.

Are you a PC or Mac user?
Also, if you were adding these files to the VirtualDJ database for the first time, then 500Gb is a very large number of files for the software to process in one go (Even if they were just normal MP3 audio files) and would take some time for it to complete the operation. Doing this for a large number of files while in the middle of playing a gig is not recommended. This is something that should normally be done in advance as part of your preparation.
The fact that they are also zipped means that the software must also decompress each one on the fly which will increase the amount of processing involved. If the files are also all in the same folder, then this could also cause issues, particularly on Mac - Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/I%20am%20unable%20to%20play%20my%20karaoke%20files%20or%20they%20do%20not%20show%20in%20the%20browser.html
Also, if these files have been obtained illegally then that may also be part of the problem (I.e: Some of the files are corrupted.)
