Sujet Help me set up a cheap bedroom DJ set.

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I didn't really know where to ask this, so sorry if I posted on the wrong section.

Anyways, I'm on a budget and I'm trying to set up a dj set (hope that's the right term) in my bedroom. I was given a dj controller, DDJ-Ergo, but other than some good headphones, the virtual dj software, and all the music that I have already been collecting, that's all I have. I was looking into getting an old stereo receiver, because I know some people use those to start off with, but I don't know what features to look for in those. I seen some from $30 and up on craigslist. What other things should I get. Cables, speakers...

Thanks in advance!

It's up to you. Numark has speakers that are amped already you just hook them up to the master output. If your trying to make it loud enough for your self then a basic receiver with some speakers will work.

I would suggest the same thing. Get yourself a pair of powered studio monitor speakers.

They will cost more than $30 though. For example KRK Rokit RP5 G2 speakers here.

Just looked up the Numark 5" studio monitors. That would work perfect and it would save me time and money. Now, I don't have to take up space with those big ol' stereo receivers. Thanks guys!

for starter studio monitors check out behringers line, they sound good, the 8 inch has a decent amount of bass and plenty of power to shake your room, just don't expect production quality reproduction to match $4000 studio monitors, but they will kill any home stereo system although it is a flatter response heard. Which means you will hear everything in the mix but it won't sound as bright as a hifi system.

Everyone will always have a different opinion on headphones, its just the way it is, personal preference. Ultimately, bedroom DJ or not, good headphones will make all the difference to the quality of your playing because you're able to hear it.

I picked up some M-Audio AV40 monitor speakers - plenty loud enough to upset my neighbours. Again, being able to hear what you're playing is half the battle.

For your cabling, as with all home and in-car entertainment, you should spend maybe 10-15% of your total budget on cabling. Through nice speakers, you'll notice a difference...

Mike.
