how come the key function does work or there is no pitch key

Perhaps the skin that you are using doesn't have this? Try using the default skin that has a key knob, or map keyboard shortcuts to key_move -1 and key_move +1
If you find that it doesn't work, then check your Master Tempo setting in CONFIG -> Performances. If this is set to 'Pure Scratch (no Master Tempo)', then master tempo/keylock will not work (Changing key requires master tempo/keylock.)
