For Virtual DJ Pro Users Who Switch from a PC to a Mac and are using the Numark NS6:
1.Virtual DJ Configuration:
Install the VDJ for Mac software on your new computer
2.Numark NS6 Driver Installation:
Install the Numark NS driver for Mac from the Numark support site:
http://numarkns6.com/support
-Select Software
-Choose the latest Mac driver for the NS6- NS6 OSX 10.8 Public Beta Driver
3.SoundCard Configuration:
Sound Card Configuration within Virtual DJ for Mac differs than on a Windows pc. Click on the the Config Icon/Sound Set Up:
INputs: None
Outputs: Headphone-Master Channel 1 &2, Headphones 3 &4
Sound Card: (NOT an ASIO Driver). Choose the 4 outcard and select the Numark NS6 driver from the drop down list
4.Music Restoration from external hard drive to MAC:
NOTE:You can copy files from a Windows NTFS formatted external hard drive TO your new mac, however you will not be able to copy files from the MAC to the external drive unless it is formatted to read files from MAC and PC or it's a MAC formatted drive.
In essence you CAN copy your music library to your new MAC. However, you will need to use a MAC formatted external drive or one that can be used with both a MAC and PC to BACK UP your music library. Go ahead and copy your music library into Mac's Music folder !
NOTE: If you're using a Seagate FreeAgent Go Flex Pro external hard drive currently with a Windows PC, you should be able to reformat this external drive for MAC compatibility or use with both PC and MAC. Please research the pros and cons of formatting it for both. I believe there's a file size limitation on formatting the drive for both. If formatting the Seagate FreeAgent Go Flex Pro for use with your new Mac (to read and write), follow the steps below:
1.Back up your existing documents, or music library to another external drive or pc.
2.Click on the Mac installer software on the Seagate FreeAgent Go Flex Pro and follow the instructions. Pretty straightforward.
3.If you've already copied your music library to the new Mac, your external drive is ready to use. You now can also copy the library from the MAC to the formatted external drive.
4.IMPT:Since your Virtual DJ Pro install will be a new one, you will need to scan ALL of your music files to restore the bpm and tag information from your Windows computer. NOTE: Scanning for BPM seems to restore the all of the tag information.
Some Quirky Things to Pay Attention To:
1. I'm finding that each time I open VDJ, I have to select the Numark NS6 driver in the sound card set up and apply the settings. Only takes a few seconds but annoying. You have to do this every time you close and reopen VDJ.
2.Be sure that the padlock icon above the PLAY button in VDJ is not highlighted. DISABLE this or all of your tracks will automatically sync.
3.You may consider also disabling the Beatlock option (set it to Manual) and disable the Pitch reset on Load option in VDJ to prevent "auto-synching". Otherwise engage the previously mentioned settings to automatically sync.
Expecting stability with the new MAC. Loving the backlit keyboard and Retina Display.
