Sujet: Redlining/Clipping tracks

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Why must every track be pushed into the red? Imagine if I was to 'unclip' all these tracks and then try to play them in a set. Everyone would be complaining my set was too quiet and I would have no headroom to go up in volume the way DJ's push the gains to the max these days.

Such is the loudness war.

It is the use of compression that is to blame. Producers compress their tracks, then radio compresses it even more. When I do my produced mixes I am guilty too, but I try to use it more to even out the levels of the track with careful tweaking, not to make it ear bleeding loud.
