@Babis, is it possible to add a folder/files view with more lines to to see with one look for example 20tracks and then scroll down to see the next 20 and so on?

No thats not possible.
And I think you guys might understand iRemote completely wrong.. the iREMOTE in name should give a clue, ;)

Its not meant to be, nor is working as, a stand alone dj software ;)

Same goes for Serato Remote too by the way, its not a stand alone dj software but a REMOTE.. just like a controller.
Its there to add extra easy to use features, such as pads, sliders, current track info etc to complement the controller in use.

Hence neither Serato Remote or VDJ iRemote have a full blown browser, etc.. It does have scroll up and down in browser (buttons), something Serato dont have. And has buttons, sliders, as a REMOTE companion to your PC (And both serato and vdj connect TO your pc)

But in future, maybe a stand alone app... Thats not how it was intended at this stage though ;)

And that's how I use it, never had a crash and I'm working on a new skin.

Thanks Norway, hopefully that cleared some things up for people........

Ehm, when the computer has crashed - how will the database content help to handle the silence on the dabcefloor?

The dance floor will not be silent if my computer crashes. As I stated earlier (twice!) I do not DJ from my computer. I simply use it as a database/song browser. It would be nice to be able to use the iPad the same way, so I can have a backup to my computer for browsing only - not playback.

Seriously why are you so filled with contempt for me just because I point out how crippled the VDJ remote is in its present form?

That is in your head man and your freaking out comes across in your posts. You were told that it works fine from other people and that you should open a ticket.

Yea that was me who said you wanted it fixed today, and at one point in another thread you said to Atomix "take a day off from VDJ 8 and fix it". End point

I am here supporting your cause for where it really does fail for me and others. Chill out dude.

Just to understand :-)

You use for DJING a "real CD" or Vinyl system (no timecode) and your computer with VDJ on it just to have a look into the database?
Beside of that you would like to have a backup iPad with only the VDJ database on it (no music files) to view only the database?

Come on mate. Freakin out....really? The other guy I wrote the contempt thing to was clearly being bitter at me, if you can't see that you're blind, plus I slipped a joke in there at the end even, of anyone needs to 'chill out' perhaps you should consider looking closer to home nay. And your quite of mine, two points, one, I wrote 'a day' not 'today' and two, that is exactly my point from earlier, that this is the first time they have ever (that I've come across) actually talked to us about this.

All this talk of 'that's not what iRemote means" kinda thing is just silly. If they don't think its meant to have the ability to choose a track then why do they have the ability to see one track at a time? Seeing one track is quite aweful for choosing tracks, might aswell not have it at all. Even seeing 20 or so as someone said earlier would be kinda useful, assuming you could press an arrow and see the next 20 of course.

Some of you seriously lack vision if you fail to see how this is useful for some people, whether YOU personally want to use it or not.

Great if the iRemote doesn't crash your systems, I get that point already, and yes I'll open a ticket, but we are not really talking about that anymore are we? This topic moved to browsing a while ago I thought when it became clear others were not having the same issues we are.

Exactly! There is music on my computer and my iPad but it's not used during a gig.

If something did go wrong with my main system, I could switch to using VDJ on the computer because it's already running.

If something happened to the computer (my browser) though, having an iPad as a backup would be more convenient (take up less space, boot faster) than a spare computer.

So are you playing CD's then?

I don't understand your setup at all .......

No, there aren't any CDs involved. My decks are Denon HS-5500s with internal hard drives. All the music is played directly from them.

Each one has a keyboard attached, so I can search for and load tracks fast - but the decision on what to play (the browsing) is done on my laptop with VDJ, because it's easier. I can see far more tracks at once on the laptop, and setting up filter folders etc. is easier too.

OMG, that has to be the pits, Lmao!! Groovin you trip me out sometimes, lol!

The pits? Far from it. For me, it's the closest to an ideal rig I've ever used - and I've done turntables, CDs and DJ software.

I used to DJ purely from a computer, using PCDJ Red first, then Virtual DJ - but I found it wasn't as reliable as using dedicated hardware.

For instance, each HS5500 backs up the other. They're actually two decks in one so, if one dies, I can do the rest of the gig from the other deck. If just the internal drive dies, they can play from USB flash drives or external hard drive. They can also connect to the computer and work as controllers & audio interfaces - again, two decks per unit (four total).

One weak point though is the size of the screen, so I use VDJ on the laptop - which also acts as yet another backup should anything go wrong. If a unit ever comes out with a similar feature set but a more suitable screen, I wouldn't even bother using a computer.

Clients and punters love 'em too. They always get lots of attention. That wouldn't happen if I was DJing from a laptop.

Guys,

As I've stated before you can use Splashtop on both Android and iOS to remote control VDJ. It's not a perfect solution but depending on your device and selected skin you can control VDJ as you see it with the full capabilities including browser. All you need to do is create an ad-hoc wifi network from your PC.

I too bought the VDJ app but it's not really any good in it's current form.

Here's it on the Galaxy Note 2 working like a charm and the stylus really helps. I've been using this for months with the ipad previously and it's great!

How can I get the app on my iphone I like that

Download "Splash Top", you find it the app store.

Seems like a good solution for me too, however an App Store search did not show that app.

********
Edit,

Never mind, found it. Its a single word.

Cheers.

If I'm not mistaken Splashtop is an Android app only...

No, it's iOS as well. Had it on the iPad 1 for over 2 years now

Which version is that, the free, paid, personal?

CrazyRemote can do the same for both iOS and Andriod.

I use the paid version, then when I'm at my day job I can download, tag and analyze my tracks all from my phone and be ready to gig when I get home.

Does anyone know of a skin that lets you see your playlist for iremote. That's about all I need it for. Thanks!
