How do you guys get your name out there to let people know of your services? Is posting on craigslist a good option?

I watch for DJ Jobs or DJ Gigs only. You then can pick and choose what you want to reply to. I've always been cautious about using Craigslist to advertise, I want the higher end client.

Depends, are you planning on doing bars/clubs or mobile. Cause each route has its own way of marketing ones self.

I do mobile gigs from time to time and I have had some success with putting ads on the following sites.
www.gigmasters.com
www.gigsalad.com
Stay away from Craigslist. You will never find quality clients on there that will pay you.
Another avenue I have gone is contacting event planners in your area. Google them. Get a press kit together and mail it to them. Maybe follow it up with a phone call. Once you get clients, ask for referrals. Nothing better than a recommendation. They are more likely to hire you from a recommendation that came from a trusted friend or family member.
DJing is a sales business. So I hope you are not shy. LOL

Make a whole bunch of mixes and upload them on Sound cloud and share the link. Give away free cds with your business card. People want to know what you sound like. Make a full cd mix of all the latest hits. Make sure it sounds good, Not no cheap mix.
