Sujet Need some help for a newcomer ?

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Hey all !
I'm new to these forums so I may have posted this in the wrong place but anyway o_O
I've only been DJ'ing a month or two (If you could call it that) but is there any websites etc where I could put my mixes on for a bit of scrutiny ? I feel like their a bit crap and want to know other peoples opinions?
Also, I've been wondering, any tips on building up a music database ? my List isn't too long and i don't really know how to expand it other than trawling through youtube and listening to things like ASOT, Club Life and Smash the house, and writing down everything I Like.

So yeah, ANY help at all would be much appreciated ! :)

Hey man, I know that feel where you crave feedback. I've tried soundcloud but it is very hard to get your stuff heard let alone have people make genuine comments upon it. The best way I go about this is showing them to your friends who share your taste in music, they're sure t let you know what they think. As for expanding your musical database, I'm not sure if your that into social media or check up on it often but you just have to "like" and "follow" the right people on facebook and soundcloud respectively. Some good pages to like on facebook include: https://www.facebook.com/OnlyTheBestEDM, https://www.facebook.com/FuturPromotions and https://www.facebook.com/dutchhousemusic4you
All those pages will 100% expose you to more quality music.

A tip for getting listens.. Tell people you have been practicing djing for at least 6 months to a year and you are looking for a little feedback on where to improve. and don't say that you think it sounds "a bit crap". Also include a tracklist and the genre or genre's of music the listener can expect to hear. If you have good tracks you should get a few listens, if you get no comments that usually means the listener is being nice and doesn't want to say anything bad. In that case keep practicing. Mixcloud lets you monitor how many listens you have had to judge.

I honestly would never listen to someones first mix because frankly they can't hear how bad it sounds, it takes time and practice to get that skill even when you can use sync, but I think it comes more naturally without syncing as you are paying more attention to the sound. If you want to get better faster get a dj friend that you can muck around with, if they pick up something it will be easier for you to grasp and visca versa.
