In your example (135 and 140) I would use the pitch slider on the 135 up to about 137-138 set that deck as the Master deck the hit sync on the other deck, then while deck one is playing experiment with timing of hitting play watching the beat counter at the top of the screen and the wave form and listening in your headphones. Sometimes it's necessary to fudge the starting cue point one direction or the other to start on a clean downbeat. selecting Smart Play (read the manual) can help but not always, try it both ways. I try to get myself on rythem with both the down beat but also the up in between, One and two and...sometimes i have to hit play on an upbeat to get the sync right. I am a fairly new DJ as well and i do my level best to beat match when ever possible, and I get it 90% of the time. It's a good idea to practice some other types of transitions (fade, eq, filter) for when you can't beatmatch, and the last resort fade to silence and hard cut ;)
