No, not VDJ lol.
Windows 7 froze 40 minutes into my NYE gig. Pushed the fader up for my iPod I use for backup. Had to reboot Windows. Everything was OK for the rest of the night. Knocks your confidence a little when doing an important gig.
Checked since getting home and can't find any logical reason why. Oh well.

Maybe it's a bootcamp thing?
I have used the same machine with Windows 7 for over 2 years and it's been fine. I don't even take any backup as the system is so reliable.
So many things can cause this though .....

Would also think it could be a temperature issue.
Do you have Internet when the problem occurs ? Maybe some kind of update process ?

whether i'm gigging or not i use gamebooster to turn off background processes and leave the cpu
some unused capacity
or you can turn these off yourself in task manager .....if you do so proceed with caution
could be heat ( although only 40 mins of use throws a question mark over that) updates , power options , scheduled changes , etc
you were well prepared with backup , way to go

Too much processes in the background I think someone already mentioned in here. That happened to me once but fortunately not during a gig. The night before NYE I was using VDJ to play some new songs I had and it started acting weird. I did not want that to happen during my gig so I did a full scan with Malwarebites and found 4 issues. While I was playing on NYE the computer was responding faster than ever! So to add the the list of suggestions of what might be causing you problems I guess it can either of two things:
1. ) Background Process sucking too much CPU
2.) Malware.
Goodluck and keep your machine clean! inside and out! : )
