Sujet: The Networking Tab

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Thought I'd have some fun tonight with my DJ friend and link both our laptops together for some mixing fun. I went to Walmart and bought him a nice wireless router as a Christmas present. I wrapped it up and delivered it tonight for our gig session we planned.

Wow... now I can SYNC along with him instead of fingering that damn jog platter... and can now concentrate on mixing effects and content. Our sessions are sure to improve.

I finally got access onto the wireless network after having Belden suppport help me over the phone. My problem was the "dot" between the 2 network names that was almost too small to read. I got it working after noticing that little issue, and got connected.

AND then I went looking for the "Network Tab" to put in the IP addresses. Guess what? There is no network tab in Version 7. I remember it being there from past versions, and assumed it was in Ver. 7. But according to a Forum post it has been "depricated" from the Version 7 build.

Errrrrr.... what a total bummer. That's $40 wasted.

My question is... are there any plug-ins available to connect two PC's via IP? AND have "SYNC" through VDJ?

It's hard to believe this feature has been dropped. It looked to be lots of fun to be able to team up with my DJ friends and SYNC tracks together.

Is there any chance this will be included in Version 8 ??? It seems like a cool tool.

I havent looked for any apps but you could just use a deck as a line in from him. There will be a waveform and I think you could tap the beat and then sync with his.

I know its not 100% of what your looking for but I done it this way before.

Sorry I couldnt be more help......

The main purpose of the old networking feature was to allow multi-instance of VirtualDJ to create skins with more than 2 decks. This feature was depreciated in VirtualDJ v7.0 when support for 2 decks was added to the software.

If you would like to see a similar feature re-introduced in a future version of the software for sync between two separate computers, then you can ask in the wishes and new features forum.

when support for more than 2 decks...

You could always drop back to an earlier version of VDJ.

Ok, thank you for the information guys. Yes, I'll copy this request to the "NEW FEATURES" area.

I'll be asking for not only SYNC function with another DJ's laptop, but also send his/her BPM and KEY settings to my laptop's deck in live playback. Transmit his/her ARTIST, TITLE, KEY, and BPM information to my laptop's skin so I can see where he is without me physically hovering over his laptop.

Perhaps create a BUTTON selectable on any DECK that can make the IP link and pull over his/her information. Have it display like a normal track on my selected DECK. It would perhaps be a "read only" DECK because it might get a little hairy if I could remotely control his DECK from my laptop. Still that still would be a neat tool.

The DECK could change color to show you're in "LINK-A-FRIEND" mode. It could be switched off to go back to 4 decks if you are using a 4 deck skin.

This would be an excellent app for DJ's to have FUN teaming up wth each other. If it's "read-only" mode then there has to be a good level of communication between the DJs. Let me know when you're changing BPM. And what BPM are you choosing.

Tommy & I have the wireless connection set up through a router. Now we need the application. I suppose we can revert back to an earlier release. There are some worries of screwing things up. It would be much easier if this feature with enhancements were returned to current versions of VDJ.

Thanks !

Jimmy
