Sujet: I need some help with loading tracks. - Page: 1

Hey guys, So I am decently new to Virtual DJ and mixing itself quite frankly, but I am having a riot using VDJ. Recently I hit a barrier of sorts when I realized that when I load a track into a deck that is not playing, it makes the sound switch over to that deck automatically. And it changes the sound and to my understanding it will stop the other song from playing when I am using speakers. I hope someone can help me either stop VDJ from doing this, or tell me an alternative way! Also, I was wondering whether there are any good, cheap DJ controllers out there, I do not want to spend too much money on one as this isn't going to be a major hobby, I am looking to spend $150 Max. I hope somebody can point me in the right direction! Thanks!

What version are you using? Are You using a mixer, or just coming out of your computer? It is probably your sound card settings. If I know how you are going to use it, I can tell you how to set up your sound card. Hercules, makes some in-expensive controllers. Here's one.

I am just using my computer to mix right now, But I want to use a controller.

Inputs: None
Outputs: Master: Left Chan Headphones:Right chan
Soundcard: Mono Separated: Primary sound driver

Which version of Virtual DJ do you have? It may not support separate deck output.

virtual dj 7.1.4 pro. Which hercules controller would be worth my time for mixing? Like I said I want it to be cheap.

I gave you a link to an inexpensive Hercules controller, above. If you have a pro version, you should upgrade to 7.4.1, and register it, so you can receive all the upgrades, free. You are listed as a no licensed user. You are coming out mono separated, but what are you going in to?

I am not sure what I am going into, it gives me the option of my primary sound driver or my speakers

What do you have hooked up to the headphone out jack, on the computer.

Nevermind I changed my output to just speakers no headphones, so now the sound is strictly going into my headphones, thanks for the help!!!

Good luck.

That controller does not have a built in sound card, so you would have to settle for the one on the computer, or spend Mo Money.

I really like the looks of that one UPJohn, it is set up just like the VDJ interface. Kind of expensive though, atleast for my price range anyways.

if you watch amazon it they have open box items that sell for less. though trust me... Get something that is a little more than you need it will save you money in the long run and like I said I swear by that controller. The controller is set up like the vdj interface for the most part although I use a custom skin with it just because I use more effects and the standard interface is only set up for 4 cue points.

I hate to bump an old topic but I want to re-iterate my questing before because it is still a problem. When I load a track onto a deck, it switches the sound to that deck, regardless if there is another deck playing a song. What the hell? It is a huge pain in my ass. How can I stop it?

Sounds like your master output is set as headphones. Can you post a screenshot of your audio config setup?

it is set as headphones, only because I am not playing it outloud. what should I do?

That will be why.

If you change that to master then it will play the outgoing track but then you won't be able to cue anything.

What would I change it to if I wanted to have speakers AND headphones?
