When using my vdj 7 pro my audio tracks are loud but the karaoke tracks are only half the volume, ive set the optional auto gain but still have the same problem. Any suggestions

Purchased all new equipment, Peavey powered speakers, power sub woofer and an HP laptop. When connecting the laptop and playing music it sounds like the music gets loud and soft (it never cuts completely out). I play it from an older and cheaper Dell laptop and it sounds great, but I need a back up because I don't trust the older laptop. Any suggestions on the music fading in and out. Thanks
