The iRemote application works fine with version 8 as well.

Great! Thank you for your reply.

I bought the app last week and tried it.. It does nothing at all. it does connect with my VDJ 8 and I can allow the connection, but not one button responds on my ipad. I can see on the ipad the music that's in the folder to load, but looking is all I can do.

Then I came to the idea to try another skin.. Well that was a mistake.. There are no skins to download.. Well there are 2 I believe but not one of them is 4 decks and they are awfull!!

I love VDj in almost everything they do, but please let VDj iRemote die and bury it until there is some improvement or more support for it.
I don't believe every (super) negative comment until I see it for myself, but the comments for this app in the Itunes store are not (all) overreacted.

I'm sorry, but even the app costs me 10 Euro (which is not the highest price) I'm very sorry that I spend my 10 euro on it..

Sidenote: I don't own an iPad so I borrowed one for that evening. Android support would make me, and I read the forums very often, and a lot of other people happy!

there are more than just 2 of course..

but true only one iPhone skin is 4 decks (the one from DJFormat)

Probably the reason no one cared to ask for one is that the application itself is kinda an "emergency" app when u want to step out from the booth and have some basic controls of the software. 4 Decks is a little "too much" for such cases.

Since you are using 4 decks, maybe some of the skins are based on deck="1|2" instead of "left|right", therefore the buttons may not work if e.g. deck 3 is assigned as left but the skin has deck="1" on its elements.

As for your spent money, you paid for the application and it should work as expected. Its just a matter of skin choices which at the moment may not be plenty and dont look good, but its up to authors/skinners to do more and prettier. We dont do any "quality" control or "beauty test" either when we approve an uploaded Plugin ;)

For android support. Indeed the market is big and there may be an app for Android in the near future. Not a high priority for the Devs though.

Aah... I didn't look at the vdj7 category.
I clicked skins and then vdj8 skins and then iPhone ipad..

Then you do not get this list! :)

Maybe I try some of the v7 skins, but I got v8 running ;)

However, nothing responded. Not one button, not a volume slider, really nothing.
It looked like the app was frozen?

I have used the iPhone remote on both VDJ7 & VDJ8. Works fine although it's not something I normally use.

I too purchased the iRemote app for the iPad Mini2 but after realizing the limitations, (browser shows one song at a time, navigation through folders is clunky, sync issues, lag, and lost connection. I even bring a dedicated wifi router to the venue.) I used the refund link on the Apple app store and got my money back. So I was still looking for a solution when I came across Teamviewer, which is just a remote desktop application. It works well enough that I use it regularly on slower nights when I don't need 'pitch perfect' mixing. Free, and I ended up using it on all my computers so I can work from home or access my home computer from work, etc.

I volunteered to help with a karaoke day for kids.
I was alone and I could not stay in the dj booth a few metres away of the stage and let the kids sort it out by themselves.
I wanted to announce the singer's on the stage and help them with the microphone.
So that's why I wanted to start a song from the stage and not have to run back and forth to my booth..

Just that. No mixing, just remote start and stop songs. Best scenario would be start and stop songs that were in my karaoke list.
But the karaoke list is v8 feature.

Unfortunately nothing on my iPad responded I had no other choice than run back and forth.
It still was a great day with a lot of happy faces!

I have used splashtop for ages now on Android and it works perfect. You just need to create an ad-hoc hotspot and off you go.

It also gives you the full functionality of VDJ and your native skin (assuming your tablet can support the screen resolution)

The iremote app is very poor and despite hundreds of requests it's pretty much been untouched since day 1.

10 Euros isn't a lot of money but it could have got me a couple of beers instead :)

I have seen many posts indeed of people asking for a better remote app.
So I have seen also all the posts about TeamViewer, Splashtop etc.
But this isn't an option for me. The buttons of my VDj skin would be to small on the iPad.

I just want to start and stop a song, so the most basic command play and stop would do the trick for me, but it must be in a 4 deck setup, because I always use 4 decks.

PS: I see a lot of Youtube tutorial videos from Virtual DJ. What about a skinning tutorial video? I really like to make / modify a skin myself, but with the existing skin files... I have no clue at all.
With the SkinBuilder (skin) it makes just a little sense to me, but not enough to understand it all.

I say: skin builder youtube tutorial :)
