Sujet: New Pioneer Rekordbox controllers RX & RZ

Basically the SX2 and SZ brought up to date, and using their own in-house software. Will they be locked to it or will there be 3rd party midi support as well?

If Rekordbox DJ is good then the price is pretty attractive. Will definitely give it a try with the SX2. Available from 1st October 2015. Looks very similar to Serato though. Hmmmm.

Looks like a combination between serato and traktor in a good way...
 
This has to be a blow to software devolpors like VDJ and Serato as companies who don't make their own hardware.

This could be the switch I was waiting for. Definitely gonna try this out since I won't even have to buy any new gear!!

I thought Serato was developed for Rane hardware and was the same company?

Anyway I'm sure Rekordbox DJ will be a Serato clone and have 10% of the functionality of VDJ. But then a lot of DJs like it that way ........

Nothing to lose with a one month trial, that's for sure. I'm not sure what the support for their new software will be like but Atomix aren't exactly pleasing me with theirs at the moment.
 
I see it (Rekordbox DJ) has recording, editing and playback of pad performances too, like Serato Flip.

Atomix, when are you going to add this feature?
 
Come on Keith, how many of VDJ's features do you actually use other then scripting??

@Groovin, Before a flip feature can we at least get post fader fx's already??

In the end I don't think VDJ has much to worry about because they have way more features then any other software out there at the moment.

Let's just hope this lights a fire under every bodies butt and they start dropping new features.
 
Scripting and configurable skins are important for me. I also like the remote app but it's been broken since June with no fix. I'm sure other software could be controlled by Splashtop anyway. The VDJ library management is also streets ahead of other software.

Things I don't use in VDJ:

Video (only use at home to play with)
Karaoke
Sampler (never quite understood the power of it but VDJ is a bit weird in it's implementation)
FX (other than Brake, backspin, beatgrid, dump)

I tried Serato with the DDJ-SX but really hated it. It was so basic. Maybe Rekordbox DJ will offer more. Be interesting to see how it is mapped for the SX2.

When Atomix pushed VDJ8 it was a "base to be developed on" but as we know nothing has been developed since it's release. Lots of promises but nothing as usual.
 
expect the workflow to be like everything else pioneer at least that's what i believe.

competition is always good for the end users forces others to up their game to stay valid etc.

also the price of recordbox DJ is right in the sweet spot IMO.

I'd ask that too, I'm about to start my 3rd stage of dev with flip, stage 1 bloats the db, stage 2 cuemacro and it's 99 cue limit held it back, stage 3 will take me all winter to learn plugin to external xml. (save me the trouble, I've thought long about the problem, NDA me and give me alphas :-) )
 
in my opinion i think the release of the pioneer rekorbox will give the other leading companies like ( serato , traktor , vdj ) a wake up slap
so they can do some work as they since a long long time has been stuck on what they have released no new innovations or ides
at least they will start listening to costumers now ......
