Sujet Sampler question

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

So last night I was redoing everything in my sampler, moving samples around and what not.

Well I mixed some one shots/drops with a few drum loops. This is where the problems start, is there no way to have my drops stutter and my drum loops switch on/off by the press of a buton??

So its either everything stutters and press shift to turn off the loops or no stutter and one button turns them on/off without using shift??

Why did I think that each sample could be assigned individually???

Create groups. Then in the sample editor you can change the trigger of a sample in a group and it will apply to all samples in the group.

Page 73 of the manual (Sample Editor Section): Trigger
Select one of the available Trigger modes. If the Sample is part of a Group, the selection will
apply to all the samples of that Group.

Hmm, yeah that's not gonna work for me. I sometimes have 4/5 samples at once playing and with only 8 pads ill pass on that idea......Thanks though.

Guess ill post in the wishes forum.

Don't confuse "banks" vs "groups" and you can show multiple samples from multiple groups in a single bank. My suggestion to start is to group together the samples that you want triggered a single way then color code them for visual reference.

That's how I did.
I use the AKAI MPC mini with today four different banks with a volume slider for each group.

Yeah I here what yall are saying but I don't agree with having to make groups in order to have my samples launch different ways.

I should be able to assign each and everyone of my samples anyway I want without having to set up groups.

Some I want the typical on/off action with the press of a button (no shift needed) and others I want to stutter (pressing the button repeatedly starts the drop/one shot over and over).

This is how it was in 7 and that's how that sampler works in SDJ (which I do use) so like I said ill ask for this to be changed in the wishes forum.

Thanks though and yeah I have the APC mini as well but I use that for Resolume and sense I can't assign how individual samples are launched it wouldn't make a difference what controller I was using.

Wauw compliments for the quick and precise answer.....!!

Wouldn't call that 'precise' as what I'm asking for isn't even possible with v8........

Actually, it sounds quite simple the way he explained it. It will do exactly what you want, you just would like to do it your way, or the way another software does it. So the wish list may be your best bet, but it works for some of us.

Ok to an point it would but it would require me to set each individual sample that I want to use in its own group. Which would again require more work but I suppose it'll have to do.....

And its not 'my way' that I want it, I would like it back to the v7 way ;-)

v7 doesn't have selectable trigger modes at all as far as I can find...

In VDJ 7, each sample player has a easily accessible loop/drop button right above the fader.

Also, each slot has its own dedicated record button - something else which has been constantly requested since the release of VDJ 8.

Groovindj - you can change loop/drop per sample in v8 too. That is different to the trigger mode.

Haven't used 7 for awhile so maybe I'm wrong but in 7 when set something as a drop it would automatically stutter and when marked as a loop it would be a simple on/off, correct or am i wrong again??

In 7 we had instant access to the loop/drop switch. One click. While we work.

In 8 however, from the pad view we have no access to it at all.

In list view, we have to go into the editor for each sample, make the change then save the sample. Four clicks total. Not really great for on-the-fly work.

This is something that would be good to have as a VDJ script/action. If we could add the function to custom buttons it would be a start.

You can use script to change the global mode of the sampler: sampler_mode 'on/off' or sampler_mode 'hold' for example. They can be added to custom buttons, controller buttons, etc for easy mode switching on the fly.
