Sujet: Itunes playlist

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

I have seen many people are using Itunes to make playlist rather than VDJ.
Just curious as to why. Also how exactly are these playlists prepared in Itunes
that make it better.

It is not better, but it is futureproof. Every program for dj'ing can read the Itunes playlists, so they are available in every software.

I could think of nothing worse. Itunes is a terrible program that keeps changing it's protocols for no reason.

It can also delete user files and all. Avoid like the plague.

Exactly what came to my mind reading that article, hopefully I never trusted apple, and will never ever ever do :)

It will "only" delete the files on a 2nd or 3rd device that is synced to your "main" apple device.
So the files won't be lost. But yes, I agree. That is just.... bad. And they should feel bad.

I do not use Itunes, just curious why so many do .
Always make playlists in VDJ

I guess it's just habit.

The database functionality of VDJ is just as good (but iTunes smart folder selection is easier) where in VDJ you have to enter the syntax manually for filter folders.

Agreed, stay away from iTunes. Its pretty much bloatware anymore and it breaks every other update.

Run away and run away as fast as you can....

Apple music is NOT ITunes. If you didn't signed up, there is no problem at all.
But as everywhere: haters gonna hate.....

Maybe I missed something here but where did anybody mention Apple Music at??

The OP asked about iTunes and using it to build playlists, nobody said anything about Apple Music.......

iTunes can delete user files if you select the wrong option. It has done this to a few people I know. nothing to do with Apple Music at all.

You didn't read the link posted from fruit, do you?

@kradcliffe:
that's why I wrote my post.

Ahh ok, I read it.

Either way I myself recommend people not to use iTunes even With Serato they don't really recommend it even though it can read them.

ITunes was good at one point in time but now its just bloatware.

then it may seen to reason to leave the box uncheck to be on the safe side

ok... Itunes is not the best program. But imagine VDJ ends tomorrow, I still can use my playlists in other dj-software.

@ohshit:
If you uncheck this box you won't be able to read your playlists inside other applications.

to the topic:
I build my playlists with beatunes/ITunes. or genius.
Simply because the fact I can simply listen to my sets on Iphone or other apple-devices.
Another plus are the smart-playlists imo.
Also I can use these lists then with other programs.

the playlists vdj creates are playable in almost any mp3 application including itunes so i cant see a issue if vdj ended tomorrow :-)

Correct.
I wanted to say the same.

VDJ playlists are just ordinary m3u files which could be played by almost any player.
