hello I'm thinking on upgrading my old 2007 black macbook,dualcore 2.3ghz 4gb ram wd500gb, I have a friend wich is selling a 2012 macbook pro, 3rd gen i5 2.5ghz 4gb ram hd500 sata gfx intel 4000 asking 400€.
do you guys think it is a good deal?
will the mac handle good vdj8 on low latency for 2 timecode vinyl decks plus a 3rd deck on timecode CDJ, mixing, beatjuggling & scratching mostly audio mp3/flac,samples on sample deck, and some (rare) scratch on some cartoon(low res) videos,
I know the intel gfx is onboard, nvidia are better, I'm also aware of SSD HD wich are 48x faster than sata, and upgrade ram to 8gb.
I also will spend some money on a couple of used str8-150 decks and z2 mixer so I dont want to spend more than 400/500€ for a computer.
thank you

Get an i7.

So you won't need upgrade for a longer time.

yes, but an i7(mac) is way over my budget...
second opinions?? wont the i5 4gb sata handle good enough the 3 timecode decks?? I can later upgrade to 8gb and ssd hd.
thank you

just got myself a macbook pro mid 2012 i5 8gb ram 500gb hdd sata; I'm happy with the buy, the mbp looks has new and got it for 550€, later this year I will get a couple of reloop 8000 and probably a Z2 mixer, but for now Im still on SCS1 system and a technics sl-dz 1200 modded vinyl on timecode cd. I think Im getting another DZ1200 deck...

I'm also looking to get one Akai AMX, has a backup/portable mixer adding the DZ for scratching.
I see that it has problems in serato dj, touch eqs cutting sound and channels left/right getting cut off...
does the AMX mixer perform good on vdj8?
thank you
