Sujet Echo

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Ive been playing with echo and that echopad plug-in, I think the echo effect need to be reworked, its low, they echoes are more delay-ish. Should sound more like the echo-out effect and loop-out effects, should be able to control the volume of the echoes. Ive test other echoes like and a couple vsts but they all will lose something like if i turn effect off the trails stop. SO if you guys get a chance revamping that echo effect would be nice.....

The strength parameter exactly controls the volume of the echoes.

Then it needs to have higher setting....the echoes are not loud enough. seems strength also make the time it echoes longer, those should be 2 separate parameters strenth and volume should be separate controls

That's how an echo works, every echo the volume is reduced a little.
At 99% strength the first echo would be almost as loud as the original sound.
If there would be some volume setting separate from this to make it louder it would be louder than the original which would not make much sense to me...

Echo is made from delay. Delay is just taking the original signal and playing it back time shifted from the source. Put lots of delays together and you have echo. So echo is just a subset of delays. Use lots of really short delays and you have reverb. Decay is the time it takes to trail off and the wetness is the strength. Its all a bit more complicated than this and purists will create the effects using plates, springs, tape etc. But that is the basics. If you want better effects than something a software can synthetically try and reproduce, then use a dedicated effects processor or a mixer with effects built in.

I have my strength setting where the echoes volume is where I need it to be, which is 92% but at this setting, the echoes last forever about 10sec, I need a way to keep the volume but shorten the effect trails.

Ive been dealing with music and djing for a while and most echo devices also have a repeat rate, Intensity - Which I equate to your strength button, and echo volume. Some will add some reverb functions also. All you need really is repeat rate to define how long the echoes last. At this point, I have to deselect trailing echo to stop the echo, then reactivate it.

I posed the same concern a short while back. To improve the Echo Volume, I set "Strength" at 98% and "Length" down to 1 or 2 bt (that helped with shortening the Echo). I also adjusted the High and Lowpass by increasing them both (High: 4479 Hz / Low: 202 Hz) and that gave the Echo a much clearer, crisper and even louder more defined sound. If the default Echo is not doing it for you, then try the "Echo Doppler" add-on. It has a "Dry/Wet" knob, "Delay", HPF, Beat 1 and Beat 2 buttons. I tend to like the Echo Doppler a little better. I can get a higher volume level with this add on. Here is is: http://www.virtualdj.com/plugins/index.html?category=effects&page=2

Echo Doppler doesnt trail once deactivated, I have the volume and frequency set like i like it....but the the echoes trails should also have a setting so it doesnt last 15sec. Punch your echo stop the track and listen to how long the trails last

Apply the echo filters ever so slightly, they don't totally work as hpf lpfs, on every pass they take a nibble at the sound in the buffer

I can deal with that, i just cant deal with the effect lasting forever....

Remove strenght and add volume and feedback, thats all you need to do.....cant that be done. Just like most echo plug-ins.

You can buy a license here:
http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

There are different options depending on your needs, and which effect you would like to download (some are Pro only)
