I have effects set to Post-Fader.
The "echo" effect continues to echo when I stop the track or close the fader, as it should...
But, when I turn the effect off, it kills the echo's tail dead...
Is this the design of the echo effect, or is there another post-fader setting that I've missed?
(I want to be able to punch in and out of the effect to have (for example) just a snare, or single word, echo...)

If you want the echo to continue when you turn it off, you can enable the echo trail option in the echo options. (use the cog at the right side in the effect drop-down list to access all echo parameters)

I'd like to request an addition to the echo effect, I'd like to have a BPM parameter so I can match the current speed of the playing song (rather than the average), as quite a few songs fluctuate, plus there's transition tools.
Parameter: BPM
Input Values: Default (matches the avg BPM of the deck as it is currently) with the option to enter a BPM value of 40-200bpm.
I wish looping could also be tailored to the live BPM rather than the avg, but that would require a more complex fix (that'll hopefully come at some stage).

You could actually go a step further and add "start BPM" and "end BPM" so the echo could start at 120bpm and end at 100bpm for example, again useful for open format DJs who need to change tempos quickly.

If you change the pitch, the echo effect already follows these changes.
If there's a tempo change within the song, you could use the bpm editor to mark the different bpm's.
(Track titles of songs with multiple bpm's are also welcome btw, so they could be used to check if automatic multi-bpm detection would be possible in the future)

Would be interesting to use the Filter knob to cut the tail of this post fader echo effect. Because even if you crossfade to the other deck you still hear the echo from the previous deck.

That's kinda the whole point of "post fade fx's"....... And it does use a filter when trailing off.

Here's my settings: Strength is 51%, Length is 1/2 bt, LP is 78 hz
I love the post fader effect but I want it to last longer. I set mines to 1/2 beat with the trail on. It seems like its too quick and you cant even tell it's fading out. I have to end up using the loop out effect because it does a longer trail and sounds the way post fader supposed to sou

then once you close the fader turn either the strength or length up.
the dubloop pad page has shift pad 1 that might do what you want, while pressed strength is 0% on release it turns strength up to 80-90% but it turns the fx off so it trails cleanly for a decent amount of time.

Yes I do this but it's sub optimal, due to the need to go back and rescan/re enter info (and it's easy to forget).
essentially we're talking about ANY track that doesn't follow the same beat grid from start to finish, including:
- Tracks recorded with live drummers
- Electronic tracks/remixes containing a temporary or permenent tempo change.
- Transition tools (designed to help DJs change tempos whilst still beatmixing)
- Genres such as trap, dubstep, DnB where the tempos are halved/doubled at certain points (clearly less important).
So we're talking about a wide range of music where the tempo doesn't follow the same rigid grid from start to finish, Pioneer have recognized this and implemented a "dynamic" analysis mode which gives tracks a live tempo reading, where the grid adjusts accordingly, you could also go a step further and add "Points of interest" on the point the tempo begins to shift (useful to avoid a trainwreck), again one a new grid has settled, and again as another shift occurs (if applicable) etc.

Turn your Strength up to about 75% and try it.
