I just recently did an upgrade and in the notes, it said that the system is doing a better job at calculating the FIRST BEAT for automix. In order to take advantage of this, do I need to re-analyze my entire library?? and on that note, should I periodically go through and re-analyze my library anyway??

Yes, if you want to take advantage of the improvement for your current files you have to rescan.
If more significant changes are made to the scan algorithm the files will be rescanned on load automatically.

Is there a way to turn that off Aidan? Some people spend a lot of time setting these up manually

Manually modified beat grids will not be touched of course unless you manually request to rescan these tracks.

If you "select all" tracks and right click, batch analyze - have you just manually asked it to rescan?

Yes

Ah..so if you wanted to rescan whole library then you would need to know which ones you had altered. Might have to start adding a note in one of the fields of the tags so they can be filtered out. Just for future improvements.
