Sujet Deck 1 issue

Ce topic est ancien et peut contenir des informations obselètes ou incorrectes.

Hi,

At a gig on Saturday night, deck 1 stopped working correctly whilst deck 2 was playing. I have a Denon HC-5000 controller and everything had been working perfectly for about 4 hours previously.

Deck 1 would not play and the CUE/PLAY lights were flashing on both VDJ and the HC-5000 very rapidly. If I tried to put another track on to deck 1, VDJ warned that the track was playing - if I confirmed anyway the track would not change on the deck.

Once the track had finished playing on deck 2 and I started my backup CD, a restart of VDJ sorted the problem and the rest of the gig there were no issues.

VDJ did not crash as such there will be no crash report.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like on of those glitches that you'll never track down. You could try a different USB cable in case midi was somehow lost but that's about it really.

Has happened to me a couple of times. Unplugging controller and plugging back in fixs it, though i run separate audio interface, so unplugging controller doesnt affect the sound. I use a mixtrack 3 so its not a controller issue i dont think.

I've had that issue with VDJ7 and a Stanton SCS3, and my current VDJ8 and ADJ VMS2. Both times, I ended up removing the controller device drivers and re-installing them. I run Windows 10, and recently had a similar issue using the ASIO drivers. Weird things started happening where I lost control of deck 1 and I had to have both faders up to have volume from deck 2. Turns out that I should have been using the WASAPI driver for the console (Channels 1/2 for deck 1; channels 3/4 for deck 2; and, channels 5/6 for headphones).

Not sure if this applies in your case, but there it is, just in case.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

One thing, how is it possible to use a seperate soundcard than the one built in to my HC5000 while still using the HC5000 as a MIDI controller?

yes entirely possible, you'd want a 4 out interface, [2 as master 2 for monitoring] you could go for a 2 out [just master] but that would leave the controller doing the monitoring and the 2 interfaces can fall out of sync,

you'd be covered in the event of a controller lock up to unplug and replug

Yeah, if you go for one with balanced TRS or XLR outputs too, then will be a bit of an upgrade, as the Denon seems to only have unbalanced RCA outputs.
